Depression is a terrible thing, Gypsy. It drains one! This was a great free verse. I am so glad you addressed this very directly. The dual pictures were so very welcomed. Very well done and greatly yet sadly enjoyed. Blessed Be n Hugs!!!

Your free verse draws the reader into the darkness, emptiness, and loneliness felt by someone in deep depression.
The emotion is genuinely felt.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thank you for sharing this poem with us. You have done a great service here to help people become more aware of depression and other mental illnesses. If it helps one person, this presentation did wonders.

I like your free verse write- excellent picture presentation- expressive- the theme is a common one and ever growing In an America upside down - your notes are accurate- there is hope- this too shall pass - for better or for worse- fortunately, as you pointed out there is medication available for some- while other choose to self medicate with alcohol etc. not recognizing their problem--your poem is a good example- good job- AP

Thank you for sharing about this serious illness. We all experienced it and it appears different on each individual. I like how you called it "
the unbearable darkness of being" which is so much more descriptive than the "black dog."

Who called depression, black dog? That is awful. There are a lot of myths about depression, I hope people pause and read.
Thank you, big sister. I always appreciate your insightful reviews and kind words.
