I like the alliteration in this poem as well as the internal rhyme in the last line. It's a clever Haiku and I hope you will win. I also like to write poetry to my own photos.

Well done and good luck.

This is so cool! You have the logo of autumn plus the satori view of the gold in nature instead of the metal that humans value so much. I think this will do great in the contest!!

I don't know which came first, the photo or the poem, but they're such a perfect match. I enjoyed your play on words with "gold in the hills." Good luck in the contest. FYI, I will be entering as well (we recently did Haiku in my poetry class), as soon as I can raise a few more dollars to stay posted for a couple of days. I was hoping to get something from my free verse poem (also thanks to my poetry class), but it totally tanked!

Just brilliant. The double meaning is perfect. Great contest entry.
Also what is perfect is when I first read it and understood the gold in them hills it made me shine.
Best of luck in the contest.
Best wishes
Mary

Excellent one! Captures beauty of nature, speaks of history and former times, miners' aspirations, hopes and dreams, and offers a thought- provoking comment. Well done. Best wishes, this one is deserving of a win.

This is a remarkable haiku.

The imagery and visuals are stunning.

Loved the sophisticated word choices and spirit.

The artwork blends in the theme very well. Good luck in the contest.

Ahhhh . . . the old double meaning ploy used with perfection and poetic skill. While this is short, it still reflects your talented artistry as a Master Poet.

Thank you for sharing!

It's amazing how a lot of these old gold mines actually sill contain gold, and in fact, modern mining methods can still extract them from these old diggings, so, you're written, well done, blessings Roy

Thanks for reviewing, Roy. It's also amazing how much gold the Chinese miners gained from abandoned mines with their hard work and tenacity. We have a modern gold extraction plant in our province and it is still doing very well... though our main gold rush years were in the 1860s.

Thanks for the super review Lynda!! I have changed a line to read 'lustrous shine' in place of 'shine brightly' which I felt was a bit ordinary... even dull, haha.
