This poem was beautiful as the rhinoceros is in his own way. I hate to think they are hunted for no good reason. You brought this to the readers' attention. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you, and same to you.

Not many even notice this huge beast. I had forgotten how nearsighted he is. I always wondered why God created such a huge animal with such poor eyesight. Maybe more attacks would happen if he could see better.

I guess everything is beautiful in its own way. He looks like he is smiling. I hate when creatures that do no harm to anyone are hunted down and murdered by people who want some body part to sell. Nicely written poem for the prompt. We all have our idea of what we think is beautiful vs ugly. Some alien species might have other ideas about beauty

I hadn't thought about aliens. If they look like they are always depicted, they have no room to talk. LOL. Thanks, Beth.

The author's words are educating, desriptive and creative. I liked the
read of this poem. I learned some facts about this animal I didn't know.
The poem flows and connects well. The artwork goes well with the words
and theme of this poem. Have a great weekend!...Maria

Thank you for this great review and compliment.

This free verse, Unsung Beauty, describes the rhinoceros and dpicts the creature with reverence and awe. Certainly, for no other reason, we need to preserve it because it lives.

The rhino, elephant and the hippo, are all vegetarians, I thought helped keep you slim! I won't bother now!
The people who hunt these animals for their horns, should be disposed of, throw them into the deepest, darkest dungeon, and then lock them in and throw the keys away. They aren't human.
I enjoyed this free verse poem, Yvonne, for the Beauty vs Ugly entry. You chose the perfect creatures to write about. They might by ugly, but to me and a lot of people they are beautiful. Well done, dear SATP :)) Sandra xx

Thank you. People laugh when I saw they are beautiful, but I don't care. At our zoo, we have on that comes out when you call him name. Beautiful boy.

What a marvelous perspective your free verse offers on a creature so often misunderstood. I have learned too, reading this poem -- I didn't know a rhinoceros was "an herbivore, no threat to other animals."
Thank you for sharing!

I can't say that I think a rhinoceros is beautiful or even pretty, but they certainly are fascinating creatures, and I appreciate you sharing your information and poem. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

You are right that he has a beauty all his own. And he's powerful, too. How horrible that poachers would kill him for his horn. I hope the market for that would dry up and that these beautiful animals will be safe!

They are removing the horns for the safety of the rhino. I'm glad you agree about his beauty. Today, I was outside and a hummingbird came up and touched my face! I don't know what that meant, but I loved it.
-
That deserves a poem or story! You were kissed by a hummingbird! Maybe he thought you were a flower!
-
I don't know what prompted him to do that. It was quite startling. Maybe my face cream attracted him.

No, it's you! 💞💐🌹

You did a super job with your free verse for the club,
Yvonne. I enjoyed reading about these majestic critters.
They have their own unique beauty. You expressed that
idea well in your descriptive words. Those words flowed
smoothly with great use of alliteration and a touch of
rhyme. I don't understand why those countries persist in
believing the horn is some kind of magic potion. Your
picture choice was awesome and showed the rhino as
a well-deserved aristocrat in his world.
Thanks for sharing, Jan
