Hi Sally,
Catching up! I've been busy with worship team music and an ailing wife these past few weeks.
"Detective... now why would I want to do that? I'm sure I can handle you on my own. What can I do for you today?" ... (I read this and said to myself, "Oh my, Mr. Elling, you are in for a huge surprise. You have no idea who you're dealing with!")
Love this!!!
"The detective stood and drew closer. "Know this, if you somehow manage to escape, I will find you. I have made it my life's mission to prosecute you for your many crimes. That's right. I'm staying here with Aspen Grove P. D. as a detective and criminal profiler. And it's not enough to put you away, Elling. My team will work tirelessly to expose every low life associated to you. We're already on to your crooked attorney."
Go, Sally!!! I can picture this so well. I know what the beautiful detective looks like. And I've put Vincent Price ("House of Usher"/1960) into the role of Fitzgerald Elling.
And a blazing finale,
"I thought you were blind, Detective."
"Another monumental oversight on your part, sir. I see you very clearly."
So really, Sally was just trying to antagonize Elling. Getting under his skin. She accomplished that!
Nicely penned!
Hugs,
Kimbob

I'm sure he'll try to get away, and he has plans for Simon. He must be more than a little freaked out about them finding Victoria. But I'm also sure Sally and King will stop him.

This is an excellent chapter. You moved the story along nicely.I can feel the caring between the newlyweds and the urgency of their needing to move them.I do notm see any room for improvement.Have a blessed day.

Excellent chapter Sally with plenty of pace and story-telling. I enjoyed the tension over the telegram and the concern then about Simon's whereabouts being known. Your movement between scenes is cleverly done and brings the reader quickly up to speed. I particularly enjoyed the scene in the hospital with the Detective getting the better of Fee and leaving the latter distinctly bemused! Thanks for sharing. Debbie

it was more than sex; it was a union of body, soul, and spirit. - lovely line Sally, and also true if love is going to last. Great chapter. Romance, then the tension of the telegram, and finally Detetive Sally's visit to Fee's room. Loved Sally's last word to him - I see you very clearly."
Typo -how in (the) world did he know
Another great chapter Sally,
well done.

Are Betty and Beth the same person? I'm confused.

"I see you very clearly." Great line here - can't wait for Elling to go down!

A good chapter, Sal. How many words do you usually use per chapter? I'm writing a four-part series, but wonder what you novelists use for a word count that isn't so long that no one will read it.

Thanks for a great chapter, see you next week.

Thank you for the excellent review and generous stars, Pam dear. No, just Betty Jo only. A typo on my part that no one caught but you. Thank you!

My chapters probably look longer than they really are. I have a [previously in chapter thus and so], and an extensive character list. The main chapter is around 1000 words, as it is a book, not a short story.

Sending you my best today as always,
    Sal XOs.

This is such a great chapter, Sally!

Back at the county hospital, Fitzgerald Elling had a visitor. Well, two if you counted the German Shepherd. [I Like the way you alluded to who the PERSON was who entered, here.]

"I thought you were blind, Detective."

"Another monumental oversight on your part, sir. I see you very clearly." [What a delicious ending to the chapter!!]
