That is a lovely thought .You can share some incidents when you were a little girl- having a fall or doing something naughty. or as a teenager .You can write about the difference in life style...having no mobile etc .When I was young we didnt even have a TV or a land phone!!!

Hello Barbara,
What good fortune that your son and his wife gave you this very special gift. What a novel idea. You may not think that your life was very exciting, but remember, your grandchildren will not get the opportunity to experience the life that you had. If it was something simple like playing kick the can on a summer night with your friends, or catching lightning bugs, or gathering night crawlers for a fishing trip the next day. Everyone has had an exciting life to one degree or another. Most children now will never know the joy of being able to strike off on a bicycle trip beyond the neighborhood, unaccompanied by an adult. Things like going to a soda fountain at a Woolworths store, or roller skating at an indoor rink. I don't know you very well, but you bring a high standard to your writing, and I would imagine that if you let your mind go back in time, you'll produce some fantastic memories to share with the girls, and we'll also have a better understanding of who you are. Good luck on your fun adventure gal.

This sounds like a really nice idea. Surely you found something fun to do in your neighborhood long ago. Or was there a special birthday. Or a birthday party. Or a trip. Life is never as dull as you might think if you remember your first crush. First fancy dress. How you met grandpa. They'll love those stories.

What a great idea. This could provide with insight into your past as well. Good therapy in some cases I say. My dad left a lot of letters about his life that I keep in my files and read on rainy days.

I tried to get my aunt to dictate stories about her life on a cassette tape. I would type them. She never did it. Your letters will be like word photographs. I look forward to reading them.

Best of luck with your new project. I found it hard to write about my life for my grandchildren. I was afraid of what they would think about their Nanna. I didn't think they could understand a lot of it, because they weren't around in that time, or know my thinking around the situation. Enjoy your evening. Shirley
