Readers will identify with these emotions: "There was a different feeling today. I was off; I felt like something was missing or terribly wrong." I remember I lost track of my nephew in those later teen years. It was only in his late 30's we began reconnecting and now we are close again like when he was an adolescent. You will reconnect.

Thank you, Debi, for this delightful peace on the joys that grandchildren bring. So glad that your grandson came and visited you and cheered you up. But I am sorry to hear you have Covid. I hope he doesn't get it and spread it to the rest of his family.

Okay, I couldn't stay away, that face just got me. Plus, I had to know what a goober was.

This is well written and highlights how little ones and family makes life that much more worthwhile. I'm not a grandparent (I don't think) but you and the Goober makes me want to be one.

Thanks for your kind review and words for Goober's 🥴 story. A few years ago I named this emoji "goober" and Google officially accepted it when I sent them his picture. Lol! Thanks again! I appreciate it.

This indeed is a wonderful story of how kids bring light into our lives, when we feel off and sometimes cannot shift the feeling. I have quite a few grandkids most of them are now grown up but there are still 4 aged 15 to 4 who I still see quite often; although the 15 and 13 year old spend a lot of time together in their room. The 9 and 4 year olds are a pure delight. George is 4 and very sociable. Charlie is 9 and quiet always has been a very loving child. George what can I say he is a bundle of mischief. He took a toy gun to his pre-school a few weeks back, the reception lady said: 'George you cannot take that into class, you must leave it with me or give it to Mummy to take home.' Apparently he leaned over on her desk with his head in his hand and said in a very quiet voice: 'Anna, I will think about it!' This story is beautifully penned and hits the nail on the head. Kids, who would do without them!

Hahahahahahaha! What a way for me to start my day. Thank you Jan for your wonderful story about little George. Oh I love kids so much and I love that you started me off today by laughing out loud. Any little clouds just got chased off by George. And that is what it is all about!!! Thank you for that and for the other fun and kind comments. Then the bonus of the six stars make it about the nicest review package I could ever ask for. Thank you Jan! You are priceless my friend!!! And please thank George for me too. Lol!!

How great to get a visit from someone you love so much. Your narration of the day draws the reader along and let's us join with you in the joy you feel.
So sorry to hear you don't feel well, Debi. I hope this is a mild case of Covid and you recover quickly.

First of all, I hope you feel better soon. My bout of Covid was no worse than a sinus infection (what the doctor actually thought it was, before the test results came back), so I hope it's no worse for you.

What a lovely story. And one of the nicer parts is that, despite the lupus, aging and loneliness, you're very lucky, and aware of it. It took me a long time before I was able to become a parent, and I thank God every day, especially since it's very unlikely that I'll ever be a grandma and, with one sister and three brothers-in-law, I have no nieces and nephews. So, yes, hold your children and grandchildren, and those anticipated greats, for all their worth, and they're worth a lot!

Thank you for welcoming us into your life, and good luck in the contest!

I'm sorry you're still struggling with Covid. I hope the fever subsides soon, and that you're back to yourself very quickly.

I did enjoy your Goober story, and your love for your family is so heartwarming. How lovely to have a grandson who makes it a point to visit Grandma.

Oh, I'm so sorry you have COVID, but the visit with your grandson sounds wonderful. Our grandchildren are, indeed, wonderful blessings. And if we can lend some to lonely elderly people, that is great. Hope you feel better soon! Evi

Santha, you are so right about the covid. It isn't nearly as bad as my first case was. Just enough to feel miserable and want to sleep all the time. It really isn't a lot different than a lupus flare up except the breathing and cough. Thanks for your kind words for the story and what is so cool now that I am getting to know you and others more from doing your poems, when I hear you compare to your grandkids, I can place those sweet awesome babes of yours too. I am so glad you just had that recent visit with yours, as they really are sweet smile makers aren' they? Thanks Sweet friend!
This emoji I nicknamed after him so whenever I write the word 🥴 it comes instead. Doesn't it look like him? Lol.

I hope your Covid doesn't lay you too low Debi, especially with your Lupus. This was a really lovely story of a close family who share all the generations with love. The story of your Dad in the VA hospital reminded me of when Iused to visit my Dad, in same, and he always said they loved to see the little ones. My Shaun was only two at the time. Nice one, thanks for sharing, and get well soon.

Thanks for your kind words for the story and what is so cool now that I am getting to know you and others more from doing your poems, I am learning more about the grandkids too. It's nice to see that so many feel the same way about their grandkids. I love that you could relate to the VA story. Thanks so much my sweet friend. This emoji I nicknamed after him so when ever I write his nickname it pops up. All I have to do is say goober and here it is 🥴 . Doesn't it look like the picture?

I'm so glad that you sweet grandson brought your smile back! He sounds like such a wonderful human and you and your son and daughter-in-law raised him well to care for other people. Love that they went to cheer other vets. You're so right about the importance of volunteering!

When this emoji came out, I nick named it after him so whenever I write the word 🥴, this pops up. Doesn't it look like the picture of him.
