Hi Monica, you, my daughter,
and I can definitely commiserate on the mothers
and mother-in-law toxic
personalities. I haven't seen
my mother in over 30 years.
She was always so critical
towards me. She will turn
91 this August. I wish you
well with what you've had to
put up with. Many blessings
to you. ~

Thank you for reviewing and sharing. Maybe we should become pen pals so we can share our experiences.

A very sweet yet poignant verse contained in a 5-7-5 haiku about a tension within a parent-child relationship. The emotions are simply yet dramatically expressed. There is some alliteration which always adds cohesion to the verse. Well done and good luck. Debbie

Thank you so much, Debbie. Sadly, it is all too true. My son and I have to take a 9 hour road trip today and won't be back until around 8 or 9 tonight. We are both diabetic, but she says we don't need to eat within that time. She gets on the road and insists she has to eat every few hours because SHE is diabetic.

I know those feelings and you learn to accept what you cannot change and some people go to their graves without being enlightened, a poignant and sad poem, love Dolly x

Thanks, Dolly. Sadly, it is a true reflection. I spent a week with my mom in the hospital and she was on a liquid diet after surgery. She got angry because they brought me food trays. She said I shouldn't eat if she couldn't eat. My son and I will be going out of town for 9 hours tomorrow (we are both diabetic) and she said we don't need to eat within a 9 hour period - we are being greedy. For more on her, check my portfolio for the stories about Ethel.
