Ben has certainly not recovered his health after the skull fracture, but he knows now to listen for instructions from above. Livvy has also learned to listen for advice from above. You paused your submission at the perfect spot, a cliffhanger.

Why did you stop there?!!!! An episode filled with drama and suspense. I am glad Ben in his weakened state remembered to pray. Bring on the next chapter. Well done.

This was quite a set-up that Salinger had staged. Lots of things working just right to allow him to bring it off. You'll have to help me, though, with what's below:
"Ben lit off Red much as he had some years past, in front of a saloon in aid of the very same girl. This time, he stumbled to his knees, holding his head to keep from passing out. Slowly, he gained his feet, wobbling to the walkway." [Perhaps you can explain my confusion here. Why did Ben fall to his knees? Why grab his head? Why was he staggering? Had I forgotten something from the previous chapter?]
As always, a compelling read, though. You have the spaghettiest westerns on the site, and I mean that as a compliment. Dark, yet believable characters. And Ben is God-driven to his core. Good stuff!

In chapter 1 Ben rode into a town and immediately rescued Livvy from a drunk. In chapter 11, Ben was kicked in the head, suffering an obvious concussion. Since then he's has episodes of passing out and occasions of instability.
Thank you for your fine review.

Somewhere between chapter 11 and 12A, I had a major senior moment, it seems.

This was an exciting chapter. It does sound as though Livvy and Ben are looking to God for guidance. It bothers me that Ben fell at the end of the chapter but in his contition he falls a lot so hopefully it doesn't mean he was shot. Im hoping to see and end to Salinger.

God is amazing, when one knows Him, He does truly guide the steps of a good man, and even goes before him to upset the unrighteous, arrayed against the the good folk, God will help out both Ben and Livvy, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

A pleasure

I hope Livvy kicks Salinger in the right place. Great way of narrating with Salinger rehearsing his evil plan and Ben praying for direction so that the scenario plays out completely unexpectedly for Salinger!
Suggestions:
more peril that being captive (than)
no longer behind him, but instead Jones (but behind Jones)

Thank you. You are always so helpful - and I truly appreciate you.

Looks like Salinger is going to take care of his own men.
I suspect the moment he shoots Jones, Jones will shoot back at him, wounding him or killing him and Ben will be safe on the floor. I hope Livvy will be safe with all the bullets flying around the room. God moves in mysterious ways. Well done. Cliffhanger ending, but I have faith. LOL Well done Wayne. Nancy:)

thank you for your very nice review.

Well, you've got me glued to the action, Wayne. Was Ben wounded when he fell? Is he trying to fool Salinger into thinking he is? So far, Ben has out-thought Salinger every step of the way. Quite the cliff you've left us hanging from. Exciting writing! Jim
