This is an excellent chapter. It was enjoyable from beginning to end. Your setting description is right on.I am looking forward to the next chapter. I do not see any room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Oh no! Poor Ben hasn't fully recovered and Salinger and his men are out to kill him and lure him by having kidnapped Livvy. Now why do we always have to have a poor woman needing to be rescued? I sure hope Livvy has developed some spunk since the time Ben rescued her. It's not looking good for the hero and his his friends...

Thank you for your great review.
Looks like I have fallen into the dreaded male/female plot cliche'. But I'm afraid Salinger is that shallow a person.
    Best wishes.

How evil Salinger is. I can just imagine Livvy's terror. Ben will definitely need God to be acting on his behalf this time! Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Ben seems to be doing well enough to do his job, with Red's help. The mine the bad guys stashed Livvy in is almost certainly on the trail Ben follows. Ben needs to save her before Salinger gets hold of her, and surely God will help him here. Two things you might want to change: . . . in (having) kicked out . . . and . . . twenty (burros) . . .

You portray the feel of the West so well in this chapter. Dark but with promise. A perfect setting for someone like Ben, who has all the human frailties of "suffering . . . when he acted on his own, ahead of God." There is a first century Pauline quality about the character Ben ... so full of enthusiam for God, yet all too human.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

"See those [burrows]?" Shouldn't this be burro's?
Same here." pack it into [burrow] burro packs,"
Burrow is a ditch dug in the ground. Burro is an animal .
Oh, Salinger is treading on shifting sands messing with Livvy. Poor girl. Totally innocent being put thru Hell because of an outlaws wrath. Well done. Nancy:)

It seems the Lord always sends Ben to the place Salinger will be. I hope Ben asked for guidance before going out on his own and doing something rash. I don't like seeing him get beat nearly to death.

As ever, clear, well constructed prose. Salinger still plotting Ben's death, now has Livvy kidnapped as bait for Ben. They're a despicable, lawless bunch! And Ben is very vulnerable right now because Salinger is scheming his murder under the guise of self-defence. Thanks for sharing, Wayne. Debbie
