I liked the flow of this poem on Mother's Day (late night). I thought you did a good job. Favorite line absolutely has to be: She's always known the safest place for them are in her arms

Well done, Debi, and happy Mother's Day to you! I missed the contest but this is a great entry. The use of "mum" with "some" would make for a truer rhyme without changing the meaning but I can understand your desire for consistency. Thanks for the heartfelt poem.

Hey Chuck, I thank you for the awesome review of my Mom poem. I really appreciate all your kind words. Lol, I was going to plead ignorance and tell you in our state that we say the two words so they sound exactly the same, and then I realized you too are from MN. No I am just kidding. I wasn't going to say that, but it would sound funny for a MN girl to say Mum. Haha! I will give it some thought tho as I am always appreciative of your thoughtful feedback. And certain friends are so darn much fun to joke with.
Thank you also for the very generous gift of six stars! You have no idea what they all mean to me, dear friend.

Hi there LisaMay! You are so kind and sweet my friend. And I do appreciate such thoughtful words. I am so sorry that you were not able to have children, but I know enough about you to know that any child that you are close to is a blessed child. You are so special to so many.
I also did not realize that you were adopted, but I was taught that in some ways that mom is more special, because they always choose to have that child with them. I know that my half brother who I am very close to now, was told everything about my mom and they were loving parents when she was in college and her boyfriend left her because she was pregnant. Yet she suffered everyday of her life until he found her. Unfortunately he only met her twice because she had pancreatic cancer and died soon after when she was 58. I am thankful that they did have some time together

Thank you for the friendship of sharing your family story with me. Relationships with loved ones come in all sorts of varieties. How sad that cancer got in the way of an extended relationship for your half-brother. Sorry for your loss.
I was amazed to discover that I have 3 half-sisters in Australia.

I hope that it was a good thing and that you became close. Amazing to find out how strange it feels when you see the family resemblance. So you are kind of like my brother Roger who found me and my three brothers. My mother also raised my three sisters that were from my dad's first marriage but their mother died when my sisters were 2, 3 and 4 years old. So they were always with us and I never think of them as half.
Since I am so against abortion I think adoption is such a wonderful option. Bless you Hon!

I have six daughters and , although four are mothers too, I don't think they always embrace the difference between mother and mum.

Well with six daughters and knowing the lovely woman that you are, I do believe that you raised them right. But I do know what you mean, because I made sure mine knew what it was like to have to work for whatever we got and now a days in general it doesn't seem to be the norm anymore.
Even tho, they are good moms and they do teach good values. So we did the best we could with what we had, right?

In your well written poem
All Mums are special in their own way and although Mother's Day is a day to let Mums know this ,for me everyday is Mothers day and i am blessed with great kids
