This is a beautiful Tanka in imagery, and the words are haunting and enchanting. Haunting because it talks of the need to hold your love. It is so enchanting not only because of the image but seeking the comfort of the night sky.

Another fine poem, Gypsy....one that conveys your longing need and desire never to be without him. A faithful poem to befitting the Tanka style quit nicely

and my longing for you

grows fiery and fierce (This is a great description of how the longing feels. Although, I'm not so sure 'the tranquil ethereal light' can hold back that 'fiery and fierce' longing. LOL I enjoyed reading.)

    yes, the first verse is about the fiery yearning and the second one is a more tempered tranquil state of mind. It's a contrast... opposites but from the same origin of love.

since you used "aglow" in the first tanka
maybe use a synonym for "glow" in the second stanza?
just a thought ;)

I like the sense of completely being so in love that the narrator feels that the beloved one is everything to him or her. That wild abandon also carries with it a risk of losing everything, too.
