I liked the description of the Grand Canyon, Sunni.

of it. Then the notes added more info. I liked the
poem at the end, too. Your words were all descriptive
and made readers feel as if they were traveling with you.

Loved your haibun! I especially like the concluding haiku. I am sure that the breathtaking view could be daunting. I didn't know about the caves but I really liked the echoing freedom!

The opening line and the picture truly fit together. I can only imagine being surrounded by mountainous terrain and getting lost. West of the Mississippi River seems like another world.
