Well-written, thought-provoking story. It actually prompted me to stop scrolling and call my sister. Instead of blanket forts, we talked about tree houses, pony rides and shared childhood memories. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome. That sounds like a story all by itself. Thank you so much. Gretchen

This is such an endearing story. It was clever to use the appearance of the old woman, seemingly out of nowhere (she didn't get on the bus) to introduce the subject of finding common ground to reconnect. Wise words and wise are those who take them to heart.

I'm a sucker for real life, and you certainly have a special knack of taking me back to happier times. The inhouse forts, buttered popcorn, movies with siblings and friends, and listening to older people tell us how time gets faster as we get older. A ridiculous statement that only proves true as we age ourselves. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, Gretchen, there are some amazing descriptions in this story.
'Her laugh was light, delicate like the waterfall of piano keys,' is a wonderful description. But my favorites are the way you describe the 'color of the wind' for fall and winter. And that spring has 'crowns made of dandelions.' Just beautiful. The story was great, too. Loved that she called her sister to make blanket forts! A great reminder that time is short, and sometimes you just need to find common ground.

My younger brother is good to me these days, but there was a time when I had to bail him out of trouble, my parents wouldn't, but that saying, what goes around comes around, we get on well, why? Because seeds were sown. Beautifully written, blessings Roy.

My brother and sister and I are pretty close despite our age differences. No drama there. Lol. I guess I'm lucky. Gretchen

Hi there,

I really enjoyed this piece. The older person talking to a younger one about life lessons at a bus stop isn't anything new but how you approached it was lovely. The colours of the seasons is a great way of looking at things.

Very nice work with this.

I enjoyed reading your little story, Gretchen. It had a smooth
flow and was filled with great imagery. I liked the dialogue, I
believed others could place themselves in the same situation
and realize the old lady was right. Her words were spoken from
one who had gained wisdom in her age and wasn't afraid to share
it with others.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Sometimes it takes the wise words of a stranger to help us recognize what is important before it is too late.
Excellent dialog which brings out the personalities and concerns of the characters, making them real.

AMEN!! Your words of wisdom are shining through with this post. It's true we are not promised tomorrow, so we need to make amends today. There is always some sort of common ground. I enjoyed reading.

Hello Gretchen,
I really enjoyed reading this story. The dialogue was so believable and easy to read, and the theme was one that is needed now more than ever I think. It made me think of the movie Forrest Gump, the bus stop scene. Well done gal! I'm looking forward to reading more from you.
Have a blessed day.
Tom
