Congratulations! You certainly deserved the win for this powerfully written senryu.
The metaphor used is brilliantly and cleverly done.
Best wishes

Loved the wordplay! Using the gardening metaphor all throughout from the "broken land" to planting "seeds of hope for those uprooted" is simply masterful! A well deserved win!!!

This senryu captures something special in its image and sentiments - the human damage of war and the need for hope to be, somehow, planted in their souls to break the chain of misery, displacement and hatred. It gets my vote. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Wow. I like the implied metaphor going on here in such a succinct way. You did a nice job of suggesting the need for service without preaching in any way. One of these days I ought to try catching up to your writing skill.

Seeds of hope are good things. But like all seeds must find fertile soil. The best for these particular seeds is trustworthiness and compassion. Good poem.

I can't imagine what it must be like to lose absolutely everything except the clothes you stand up in. I feel for these poor people who are at the mercy of their Governments, a poignant write for the contest, love Dolly x
