Hello mystery writer. Your poem is an excellent entry for this contest. The fact that it also provides a commentary is quite commendable. Maybe you should consider offering up a prose commentary on this subject and make a suggestion about how that holiday you suggest might work. I think good commentaries are needed on the prose side. Excellent writing. Terry.

Lol, just not one of my finer moments, but thanks Terry. I do have my opinion on a few things, but half way through, wondered what I was doing raining on this parade. Thanks for the awesome review. Prose, you say... I have a friend who also mentions prose a lot.

Wonderful. Getting free treats that rot the teeth? How can that be good? Rotting teeth, and encouraging greed, scaring kids, check out that candy before taking a bite. Visits to the emergency room can spoil the night. Stay home and enjoy a safe and privately provided treat with those you love and whom love you. That is a much better thing to do.

Thanks Nomi. I maybe got carried away with this, as I do enjoy the fun of Halloween, just as I do Christmas and Easter. Just don't like gory or on the ones that are about Jesus, I hate to see Him forgotten. But thanks for the awesome review!

This poem is creatively written with well chosen wording that is thought-provoking and ACCURATE. I never believed in celebrating ghosts, goblins, or witches. I sewed Halloween costumes also, but focused on harvest rather than evil spirits. You poem presents a powerful message. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks so much Lorraine. Y'know when we were first married, money was so tight that I couldn't even afford to go out to buy the material, so I took the old (but beautiful) curtains from my bedroom in my childhood home, and used them for the costumes.
Then not too long ago when my family was here, my kids were looking thru the Halloween photo album and the grandkids got excited and said to my daughter, how come we didn't get cool costumes like this when we were little? My daughter answered, because we could afford to buy them. Then she looked at me with tears in her eyes and whispered, thanks mom. Somehow I can't tell that story without crying. Thanks for the sweet and kind review my friend.

Shocking revelation. Christmas is rapidly being overtaken by the "woke" or secular mob. What threads are left of it I am proud to cling to as my Holiday for my Savior.

Yes, why can't we give him (Jesus) a totally independent holiday, not crowded by bunnies or Santas or candy or gifts or anything else?

Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Great thought-provoking verse.

Hello Gary, with keeping with the blind contest, I will just say how nice it is to see you back again. You truly have been missed by many. Thanks for the lovely review and kind words, yet I hated to rain too heavily on Regina's Halloween Spring parade contest. It was a very lovely idea, but felt the need to point out some serious facts. Thanks again Gary and for the six stars too. It is so appreciated. Hope you are home for good.

Hi! I enjoyed your poem. I liked that it pertained to the Holy Ghost and Jesus. I get inspired by the Holy Bible sometimes too. Your rhymes flowed smoothly because they weren't forced. Great job! Have a blessed weekend!

And why not pay more attention to the fun in holidays? We have a pretty drudgery life most of the time so Halloween and Christmas are supposed to be fun and celebratory after all we are in it for the fun in life and too much seriousness is no fun at all!

Actually Jesse, I agree to disagree, but still partly agree with you. Lol, I bet I have you really confused now, dear friend. Actually just don't care for it when it leads people to vandalism and violent behavior...etc...
Thanks my friend for your kind review.

Vandalism and, violent behavior are not fun for others, but fun for its own sake is. So, we agree to disagree.

The twist on Halloween and throwing the lord in it was clever. That's the whole ying Yang happening all around us. Nice rhyming and the twist I'm sure no one saw coming. Thanks for this it was well enjoyed.

This is well said and aptly laid out. I guess we could have Halloween every day if we wanted to, but wouldn't that take the excitement off it?

Funny thing, yesterday my kids found a forgotten rubber skeleton wrapped around a light in Panda Express left over from Halloween.

Ahhh. Let's enjoy the season!

Excellent verse with strong message of faith interwoven into, perhaps, an unlikely theme. Enjoyed the skilful way in which this connection was made. There is an evolving nature to the verse which argues a compelling case in its clever construction and sound rhyming pattern. Thanks for sharing, Debbie

I thought Christmas was the time we celebrated the birth of Jesus and this is the best holiday of the year. I enjoyed your fun end rhymes, but your metre here is lumpy and could easily be fixed with some tweaks. Halloween in Spring seems to mix up all the seasons here. I would suggest you make us of the full stop at the end of each stanza. Good luck with the contest, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly and yes I did see it was out of meter so fixed it up and explained my point better in authors notes that why have another halloween when Jesus has to share his holidays with Santa and E. Bunny. mostly just trying to be funny.
    Thanks Dolly!
    Absolutely love your nearest picture!
