Halloween for me. I've removed all my Halloween

Hey Sweet friend. I truly hesitated using my thoughts on this contest, only because it was yours. That is why I wrote that I knew it was meant to be light and fun, so I really wasn't trying to rain on your parade. You are one of my dearest friends and I worried about that so much that I almost dropped out.
I am so glad that you never took it personal...
So I thank you so much for this. It means more than you know for your friendship is so important to me. So much that I already started my poem to post on June tenth. I wouldn't leave you out for anything in the world. Thank you for this gift of you, your sweet words and six stars. You are the greatest!!

When I was a child, Halloween was different from today. In my Catholic school, Halloween was the celebration of All Hallow's Eve which is All Saints Eve., a holy day of obligation. In school, we would put on a play and dress in angel costumes, etc. Just sharing.
Your poem reads and flows well, and your message is clear and so very true. Commercialism has pushed it's way into our religious Holidays, and people are forgetting about the true meaning of these Holidays.
Of special note:
Give Jesus back His Holidays and show Him he's "our King"
(Amen. Let's give Him praise and adoration.)
In our everchanging world, we need to get back to basics before it's too late. Well done, my sweet SOTU. Xo. M

Margaret, I thank you so very much for your kind review and understanding words for this poem. I certainly not here to put down any holiday and take away from the fun.
I love the fun ones too, but truthfully think we have too much violence and scary aspects in life and hate to give more of those ideas towards our children's future. Thank you so much for the six stars for this poem!

I agree that we tend to emphasize the fun -- and sometimes the gore -- but need to honor and celebrate the Giver of life. Good rhymes and steady rhythm make this fun to read. Best wishes in the contest.

Amen! The real meaning of Halloween is pagan. When the two worlds come together - living and dead unite. Of course many tales have been told about it. Fairy stories for children. Still, don't enforce it with children, they are only interested in dressing up and going trick or treat. I agree with you; it is promoting satan's toys.
"Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, feeds himself for a lifetime." It is the time of the sorting of the wheat from the chaff. We know Jesus loves us and we look for Him daily. K xx

The darkness of the real meaning of Halloween masks the fun that innocent's enjoy. Jesus loves children and would not see them hurt for the sake of candy. K xx America has made a shrine out of Halloween; how many know what it really means??

Jesus is our King. Sewing costumes makes the event more fun; unless the costume does not fit. I'm right with you because I don't like zombies, witches or vampires either.

I see your point...which you have offered to us in aabb rhyme scheme, and very well!
I was commenting to a friend recently about this new "trend" of stores getting WAY ahead of themselves in selling and displaying merchandise for upcoming holidays.
It seems Christmas retail begins right after Halloween...and Valentine's Day is promoted before we have time to gather up the torn paper and bows from Santa's presents... and so on.
I enjoyed this theme as a fun contest to s-t-r-e-t-c-h imagination and see what the contestants come up with!
I must admit, when my kids were little they often liked to "toss in a holiday" -- especially during the dog days of summer when no "big" holidays are on the horizon!
(Hey~~any excuse for extra candy in my kid's minds)
In this day and age, I hope people of faith integrate Jesus into every day of their lives...
Wouldn't THAT be something to celebrate!?

I quite agree with you, these holidays are not for bunnies, chocolates, and Santa's, they are supposed to be for God and His Son, Jesus. He deserves his day! I don't think Halloween in Spring would work, anyway! Well done, this is a good contest entry. Good luck! :) Sandra xx
