Another enjoyable chapter to read. Boys will be boys no matter where you are at. You were lucky, not hurting yourself more when you fell out of the bus. If that had happened now, they would have been up to their neck in law suites. You did a great job. Enjoy your Sunday. Shirley

It's always a treat to read about the people in life that we like. Rather than the news littered with hate, jealousy, and fabricated realities. It's always a pleasure, and thanks for sharing.

I'm glad to read a bit more about your life with your adoptive father. He seems like just the sort of person you needed in your life. Your behaviour at Hermitage Hall was a reaction against their harshness and cruelty, and it did probably lighten the days for everyone, even if you then had to pay the horrible price. Well written.

Hello Brett,
you seemed to like to push the envelope. I can understand on the one hand, I guess it's either that or surrender to the enemy. No doubt you're stronger because of your struggles, but nonetheless, meeting up with your dad was a blessing that would be hard to match. Well done.
Have a blessed evening.

This is a good story from your Dad's past and your past. Boys will be boys as they say. You two were so fortunate to find each other out of all the people in the world.

It seems to me the loud, boisterous trouble maker you were at Hermitage Hall and the kid you were after you were adopted were like two different people. You certainly didn't sound like you were laid back and flexible there. When I grew up, the doors were never lock unless the whole family was away, but this was an earlier time. It is different now. I lock my doors at night now, but I live alone on nineteen. So far no one come up other than my kids.

This will endear the reader to the speaker: "Consistent with just about everything I did, I knew the truth of his comment and asked, "So, I would be labeled a Type B then?" OMG...what an image: "The door swung open and I fell out of the bus." This is good as it is left for the reader to project their own experience into the concept: "Shut up or I swear when we get back to Hermitage Hall you Your concluding paragraph is perfect.

Nice, well-written, enjoyable chapter in this nostalgic look back at your youth. I think of the things I used to be able to do as a youth that I would never let my kids or grandkids do today.

I lived on Long Island, and at age 15, my folks allowed me to take the train by myself into New York City where I changed trains up to Westchester to walk to the Westchester Country Club where I watched a golf tournament, then repeated the process in reverse for my return home when it was over. I can't imagine allowing a young teen to do that today. Times were simpler and safer then. Jim

First of all Brett, I would like to say, that I'm so glad you've chosen to stay on the site.
Now to you new post. I loved it and it gives a great insight into your new life.
Just one thing I didn't understand:
,and just as loud as I had been threatened me, "shut up ..." I'm not sure I understand that sentence.

That's the beauty of where I live. Most of us don't ever luck our doors. It still exists in rural Spain. Ulla;)))

Appreciate the comments and the review. When I renewed I was not having tumors. Since then I have had 4 more, bringing my total to 18. Biggest problem is I tire easy and can not put the effort into FanStory perhaps it requires for too long a period of time.
reply by Ulla on 03-May-2023
Aw, I'm so sorry to hear that the tumours keep on reappearing. I can certainly understand why you're more tired.

Yes, it's a moot problem today, even though my girls are now in their forties, when they were young they could still walk home safely, whereas when I was a kid it was completely safe it seems, until one day in the sixties...beautiful written, blessings Roy
