A beautiful photograph and your 'cacophony of discordant thoughts' haunt us from time to time and when we are able to express the on paper there is some release as we let those words go free. Writing poetry is cathartic and when others identify with our feelings we don't feel so alone. Your free-right is richly worded and full of energy and skilfully written, a fine free write for the contest, love Dolly x x x

You have a genuine way of critiquing of your own.I appreciate you reading and following me.
Comment from Debbie D'Arcy
This is a lovely and at times fun exploration of the mind's energy and creativeness. In fact, in praise of this. A free verse which enchants the reader all the way through. Particularly enjoyed the third stanza and the 'in lieu of lewd' Thanks for sharing and good luck, Debbie

I enjoyed reading this unique verse on feelings. The theme of 'the mind' is always interesting. Great use of unusual words!! You did an excellent job of capturing the emotion and relaying in a meaningful way. Well done and good luck in the contest!!

An unusual writ from and oddball of a guy. At least, I am entertaining to those with a parallel mind.

Always nice to hear from you
Comment from shelley kaye
are you sure that's not my mind? LOL
love those ending lines!!
also loved these lines...
I indict what I think to paper
'stead of keeping it in my head
to fester when I go to bed;
excellent poem
one suggestion i have is maybe try the black background and a yellow or gold font? just a thought ;)
thank you for sharing
shelley :)

Thanks
I?ll play with it but choose the gold hue to accent the field being walked.

This poem, In a Fallow Field, reminds me a bit of that old saying, "Still waters run deep". The mind is forever roiling within and churning ideas, while the body we see is sedate and comfortable.

Lots of truth therein
Comment from Wendy G
I think you have expressed the dilemma of a writer - what to put into words for others, whether they be truth or fiction, but also what is best ket unsaid. In the end one must remain true to oneself, and be at peace with yourself.
Best wishes.

Comment from Douglas Goff
Well, this was quite an interesting read. Laughed out loud at one line and this one was brilliant:
If, a mind is a terrible thing, to waste,
you'll find my mind an unusual place;
Definitely a sixer for me.
