This is so relatable, expressed so skilfully and indeed with great authenticity. I really admire you for taking on this subject in verse and nailing it so completely. The description of the flowers, their "stench" as the proceedings continued was sublime in conveying your discomfort and resentment of the act you needed to perform when all you really wanted was to grieve quietly. Wow, you share with us the burden of enduring the rituals of a funeral, silently accepting the condolences of those who need to offer them, while your own heart is breaking. You did, indeed, act dutiful and faithful to your father's memory. By writing this poem, you lift the mourner's veil so we can see your heart. I wish I had six stars to give you.
