A cup of tea of coffee is meant to set the tone for a good day. And when, it doesn't... We all tend to go for another drink. Gambling is dumb. I do it out of boredom. You should get involved with another hobby or country club. Good luck to you :)

This piece touches rock bottom, almost! The speaker feels doomed and abandoned. He is cheated in a cheap hotel, has his bike stolen and can't even gamble as a diversion. It seems God is not listening anymore.
