Oh definitely; the little girl was there. The theme of a child inside is part of almost anything I do. My own Dad died young, just months before his 100 th birthday. There is value and significance, in seeing the child inside of others, and maintaining the child inside of ourselves. Your writing was descriptive and emotional. I felt I could see and hear your Grandma. Excellent writing

I love the ending of your story, how you bring it around to the beginning. The young girl can see her grandmother as she was in the picture.
One suggestion: 'There isn't a smile to be found on any of (there) faces.' I believe it should be 'their.'

It is a very good story and I enjoyed it. I've often wondered if my mom and I would have friends or my grandmother and I if we were the same age. It was a different world back them We wouldn't be the same if we'd lived in the world. I like the dialogue in this story.

I like to get lost in little well-written stories like this. You made it easy to envision a grandmother and granddaughter bridging the gap in generations, through conversation.

Probably, but the granddaughter loves her grandma. What could be better than a nine year old grandma/playmate who can bake chocolate chip cookies and who let's you get away with things your parents never will. Thanks for this. Gretchen

Life was simpler in her time, to be sure, but I'll bet she had as much fun making paper dolls as kids do today with sophisticated toys and electronic devices. I love this sort of nostalgic view of the past. We try to tell our grandsons of stories like this. It always interests them.

I think kids enjoyed playtime more back then, because it was earned. They had more responsibilities than most of us can imagine. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Things and life were certainly different in those days. More responsibilities were burdened at home compared to now, where it seems everything is handed to kids today. Without being given s task to earn it.
There were no BMW's in the school parking lot when I was 17, back in 1971!

I want to private school. With 80% rich kids. I was in the 20 %. I drove a Pinto. It got me from point A to point B. Good enough for me. I also loved paper dolls. Thanks so much for this nice review. Gretchen
