You know, I didn't expect to read about shopping malls today but you are right. Sure during the pandemic there is more to consider. I am from NYC AMand long island. The Mall is life, in long island. I personally never enjoyed going but I went. You want to know why? Because it is all the things about which you wrote. This is a very familiar topic and you wrote about it, like you are the Reader's friend. I like your way if writing. If writing doesn't bring people together, and make the world a smaller place, than it is not doing a big part of what it should do. I enjoyed your descriptive, well-thought words, and images that you made so clear, we could almost see and hear and smell everything. Best wishes! :))

These concrete retail outlets are popular places and that picture looks like this Mall is very busy. We have a large local Mall called Merry Hill and it has been nick named Merry Hell because it is difficult to park and the place is packed with people. Going to the Mall is not a pleasant experience for me, I would much rather go to a quaint village to shop, but I expect the Malls in America are different, a fun post Alicia and I am glad you shared your thoughts with us here, love Dolly x

The mall is a place of comfort, particularly the local mall where you are bound to run into at least one person you know. There is always something to do there. Where I live, in Australia, people mostly go to the mall in Summer and Autumn to take advantage of the free airconditioning and simply window shop.

I enjoyed this poem on shopping malls. There are many valid reasons mentioned here as to why shopping malls are important to society and not just for the physical purchase of things. In Asia, many people go to the shopping malls to keep cool as they do not not air-conditioning at home. And anywhere in the world, you will find also it is a place where lonely people can go to be in a place where there are many people around. Sad but true. Thank you for sharing this reflective read.

Thank you for reminding me about mall activities. Yes, they really suffered during the pandemic. I only went a few times but with a mask. Hope everyone will be able to socialize in malls again.
