Thanks for reminding me about the Flintstones! You described it well with "The show was niched and relatable
To American suburbanites everywhere."
I was surprised to learn that it faced difficulties early on. I can see why Jackie Gleason thought they were copying him with the Fred Flintstone character. I like your Jackie Gleason BC reference!

"The Flintstones" was contentious when if first started. (it first started?)

The Flintstones were more modern with drivethru ribs, movies, telephones... Hahahahaha. The Honeymooners was comedic but at a very basic level. Thank you :)

Sunnilicious, I didn't grow up watching reruns of the Flintstones, I grew up watching the Flintstones. Every Friday night me, my brother and sister in front of our black and white TV. I think I had a crush on Betty. Loved your poem.

You're very kind. The Flintstones ran 150 shows from 1960 to 1966. I was born in 1972 not too far behind you. Good memories.

    Thank you :)

I used to love the Flintstones, it was down to earth and funny, I especially loved the voices and the innocence of the program. You brought it all back to me here in your poem Alicia.

Just one edit for this line:

The Flintstones was contentious when (it) first started.

Love Dolly x

Interesting. I was a Flintstones kid. That anyone would due is beyond me. Art should inspire more art. That's how it should have been viewed. If anything, the cartoon set up, former kids, like me, to perceive the concepts set forth in The Honeymoons. Were it not fit The Flintstones, Honeymooners's actors might not have received royalties until they died. On the other hand, if they did not receive royalties at all, there might be a case there. I'm not even a lawyer and I'm hedging these potential litigations in my mind. That's evidence of your good writing. You made me think. :)
