i like this poetic reflection on science which for many people have become a new religion. I like how you end it with these lines

We no longer have to pray for rain,
We don't have to depend on hard work or faith
To move mountains, or walk on water,
Or even reach eternal life.

Scientists have become our shamens, our witch doctors.
Science is our religion now.

Thanks for the excellent review and your support for the theme of my prose poem here. The style and construction really owe a lot to the Poetry of Jack Anderson, which maybe I forgot to mention in the notes. But I am glad it seems to have been effective in getting my point across that people have abandoned nature and belief in God for a man made religion and artificial nature. estory

This brilliant piece speaks to my soul!! You've conveyed the dilemma of this notion so well; it's quite impressive. Science has made incredible strides, and it progressively advances- I won't deny the invaluable insight, essential knowledge, or countless lives saved by science. However, this "savior" may also be our doom, for we, as individuals, rely less and less on our natural instincts and intuition. Science keeps growing, and we are evolving accordingly. The terrifying concern, though, is what's evolving out of us...

Thanks again for the exceptional review and the support for my piece. It is a complicated issue, as are most issues, but I really believe in nature and God. estory

No, thank you for sharing! Your belief in God and nature came through in your writing. It's refreshing to resonate very much with another's words!

No, Science doesn't know everything and yes, we need to go back to nature. I agree with both of these things yet I don't agree with the notion that Science is the new religion in fact religion is science in some parts of the country. So before you give us your black-and-white thinking be careful, my friend.

It's interesting to me that you don't agree with science being a religion but you call religion a science. Science is an interpretation of evidence. It is a man made conception or interpretation of physical facts. There is more to the world than physical facts. Whether you agree with my belief system or not, that's up to you. estory

Sorry. I had a bad day...and argued a point I know nothing about. I apologize, my friend.

I'm still debating which was better, the poem or the author's notes. I loved both. Based on this writing it's obvious you are a writer of considerable talent.

Not anymore, our government lied to us about Covid19 vaccine in the name of science. They also lied about the origin of the virus, all for their wanting to control us. As an engineer and educated in science, I have never thought of it as my God. Wait until we have a robot god. That's what I saw inside the Sagrada Familiar church in Barcelona, a square headed bronze statue.

Well done.

I really don't know what to say about this. The one thing that I do know is that a lot of scientists today have forgotten their basic science that was taught them in fifth grade. This whole global warming thing is nonsense. Earth has changed from year to year over the decades in the millennia. You did a good job of writing this though, and I found it very interesting. Patricia.

Science is a blessing and a curse. It has pushed us to levels once only dreamed of but also has given us major egos. I believe there is a balance and when that balance gets shifted then trouble occurs. Perhaps we rely too much on science and are now neglecting our own intuition and the voices of Mother Earth.

Thanks for the excellent review and your interesting perspective on the theme and the piece. I am glad I got people thinking about these complex issues; I wanted to get across an idea that man made solutions have side effects, they are flawed, and the whole concept is a hollow and soulless. which is sad. estory

I've asked people this same question, do you believe Napoleon, or Ghengis Kahn, or Alexander the Great, existed in the form and circumstance historians present, after all I'm sure their knowledge is second hand, or even embellished. As science is merely discovery of what is already waiting to be assembled, already there, it's merely a gift from the garden, an Easter egg hunt, beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Thanks for the excellent review and your perspective on the theme and the piece. Science is an examination of evidence and an interpretation of that evidence. Nothing more or less, really. What I tried to get across in part is that we can conjecture all we want about the history of hundreds or millions of years ago, but we don't really know all we think we know. I like the example of those historical figures. Those figures were of course much more complicated than the narrow politically correct interpretations of subsequent generations. estory

Without science we might still be living like we were centuries ago but we wouldn't have the technology to know what we are missing and if we don't know what was going on in out government, we would likely assume everything was proceeding as it should. Science has made us distrustful of everything, and science is one of many things I don't trust.

I couldn't imagine myself living in the past, but I could imagine myself living in the future as scientists are making so many huge strides in technology, it is hard to keep up. I think you are right that we still need to look to nature for our answers as we still have so much to learn. How can birds navigate the globe and know when to fly south for the winter? Animals never speak but their body language is understood by other animals and the are so instinctive and intuitive. I marvel at nature and I think we have a lot to learn about what is going on in our own back yard.

I was amazed that the Scientists produced a vaccine for Covid so quickly when the world was in crisis and saved so many lives.

I enjoyed your praise of the Scientists and our awareness of nature will also help us to understand the way forward.

Much enjoyed, food for thought here, love Dolly x
