I like your story and the fact that Ben seems to be called to help others. He even checks up on them to be sure they continue to be upright people. There are a couple of problems: ...the town's first(.) . . . owner in Creede(.) You have an excellent vocabulary I have noted in your other stories, but I think maybe some of your words are a little too educated for Western stories. My husband reads Westerns, but I don't usually. William W. Johnstone is a very successful writer you might want to read, not for his story necessarily but for his manner of speaking. I can't remember if he speaks from the POV of only one or a few characters or from the POV of an observer.

Thank you for your review. I'll keep an eye out for 'over-sophistication'.

I am out of sixes Wayne, but I am so happy to see another western writer here on FS now. We had a few in the past but they have either left or passed on to their reward. I enjoyed your chapter and you even spiced it up with a calling from God for Ben. Well done. I just hope my eyes hold out to review your book. Enjoyed. Nancy:)

Thank you for your very nice review.
Yes, Ben's calling is the issue in every chapter.

Ben is an unusual character. It would likely be a better world if we could all feel that we were acting under the direction of God at all times. I'm anxious to see where Ben ends up next.

It seems Salinger wants Ben, and because he pays a big part of the sherrif)# pay he thinks he has the right, but I think Ben will do the right thing no matter what! But Ben starts to leave of his volition fully knowing what his calling is, he encounters an evil looking man, but keeps out of his, well done, blessings Roy

"One Man calling"
(chapter 3) was well written, written theme and imagery.
It also, read well and Flowed well with no Grammar Issues.
...
My Complete Synopsis:
The Adjective and Objective Contents were both Excellent and Exceptional while Descriptive Measures aligned Perfectly.

Interesting chapter. I did wonder why Ben doesn't feel called to marriage, although not long back he was kissing Livvy, and leading her to assume her affection was returned. Good that Salinger has left town, but the newcomer may have been sent by him to get rid of Ben.

Typo: Ben injected himself (Ben interjected)

    Thank you.
I think Ben and Livvy kissing would have been natural. Maybe I could go back and insert how Ben began to understand that he was not to marry Livvy, but to move on. (He IS only human, after all.) smiley face here
