This contest welcomes creative approaches, and you certainly met the challenge with this rewrite of the Old West where the choice of drink was tea and disputes were settled by debates rather than guns. This is clever, creative, and so well-written.
Can you imagine what our culture would have been like if this had been true?
Well done.
Good luck in the contest.
Mary

LOL, I love the way you wrote this poem. This new place you created does sound like it might be a tourist attraction for those tender feet from the east. A great entry for the contest. Good luck. Terry.

"The Mild West" is a tongue-in-cheek poem about the realities of retirement life in the American West; that place today is a far cry from the wild hey-days of the 1870s. The poem supplies contrasts from the history of the West to counterpoint what's present in "The Mild West," an amiable community in which people are more likely to draw a sketch than a six-gun. I think a little more work could've improved this poem with words that exaggerated the funny realities that oppose each other in this poem.

Hi
This is a witty poem that also is true. There were nice quiet and peaceful towns in the Old West. All places weren't dangerous and filled with outlaws. I like the bank robbers that return the money with interest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.
Joan

You leave me scratching y head how you came to write of this but ever since I read the title, which I was drawn to, and was glad I was, for after perusing it, I enjoyed its humorous take on the MILD West.

This has a great sense of cheeky humour. The only problem for a UK innocent like me is that you've challenged those images of cowboys and the wild west which I've cherished! But I forgive you- it made me laugh!

Sure is weird! Lots of history in American West. All bad. You have changed it around to all good. No one would get killed, or drunk and your sense of humor shined like a sheriff's badge! Good luck in the contest.

Nice comedy with an original twist on an old subject. I think you covered most of the notorious men. Roy Rogers and Gene Autrey would have been too tame for that crowd.

Weird is fun! Odd is smile making! Love your:

"Billy The Kid's a literal child" line...l

Particularly because when playing "cowboys" as a kid cookies were the treasure of choice!

Cute write for this funny contest!
