I find your examples impressive and showed your determination to be a knowledgeable and strong leader.
I thought of a man six years ago who was named energy secretary who thought it was a PR job and was surprised it included nuclear energy.

Rick Perry was the Trump appointee sent to screw up as much as a dummy can.

Wouldn't that be nice!

I appreciate the examples taken from your own life. Impressive how you took it upon yourself to become a specialist in each area i.e. the meteorologist and later, fire direction control. I always enjoy learning new things and I see that you do too.

It wasn?t a choice.

Being knowledgeable, especially in a war situation is a tricky one as we need to have studied and have a good command of general knowledge as well as expertise in a particular subject. This is an area where many leaders default. As you say being knowledgable saves lives, a poignant write Bill, love Dolly x

I love it when you share from your real life experience! And it does show that you really have those leadership qualifications. In Business, we were always told that people were promoted to the level of incompetence. But if the leader/manager took their position seriously, they would become competent!

Never having been in that position, it is not possible for me to speak with any kind of authority on the subject. I do believe that unless a leader can impress those he leads, it will be very difficult to lead with any type of efficiency.

I can see how that would be very inportant in a leader. If some subordinate knows more than the leader about the subject the leader could very quickly lose the respect of those he is leading. I enjoy you going over these traits. There are good for anyone in a leadership role.

Knowledge is certainly necessary if a leader is to inspire confidence in others. The two secific examples in this essay make the point very well. This is one reason why the general public are sceptcal when an individual can move from a Ministry like that of Agriculture to Education and then on to yet another in a very short space of time!

Those types of positions require knowledge of the whole, of which one ministry is a cog.

I enjoyed this very much. When we were made head of section, the first thing we were advised was that knowledge is power. The second thing, that many of us assimilated was that amassing knowledge is pretty useless unless you learn how to communicate it. kay

You have this under 'general fiction' yet is reads like this all happened to you. It was really interesting, Bill. So without knowing anything about what you were going to do you managed to be given the job of leader. That reminds me of our politicians! Love it! Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Thanks, Sandra. I changed this to nonfiction. I don't know why this designation changes from one to the other.
