I'm not normally a reader of westerns but I'll give it a good go, and try to understand the colloquial expressions. Lol. Glad to see here that Ben was wise in his onthe spot decision making, and in the right place at the right time. Also the power of prayer, or rather the prayer of a faithful man and God's powerful answer.
And also the spiritual guidance Ben gave. Well written, as always.

    Thank you.
Ben's just a man trying to follow God's leading. He could just as easily be an Australian banker, but the American western frontier type gave him better mobility and more credible opportunity. But maybe the same character 'could' be modernized. You just gave me a thought. Thank you!

Ah, we see another side to Ben. He's a man of faith and prayer and he already made a difference in the lives of Arville and Hector. Hector was ready to hear that advice.

He live and he might be (He might live?) Is this some regional dialect grammar?

Thank you for your very nice review.
I suppose it is a dialectic issue. 'He live and ...' I hear that arrangement as normal, but looking at it in print ... hmmm
The meaning is clear to me - If he lives, then ...
I'll have to think on it. thanks for pointing it out.

No worries. If it's dialectal, keep it!

I enjoyed reading this chapter. You have done an excellent job describing God's messages to the preacher to keep moving on. The preacher prays for a good outcome for the sick; and God makes that happen. I look forward to the next chapter. I do not see any room for improvement.Have a blessed day.

That's a couple of blessings shared, and I don't think anybody saw it but Ben. What a wonderfully written chapter. Best of luck with your book!

Have a great day, and God bless.

I'm enjoying your story. It sounds as though Ben is more than a mere preacher. He seems to have the gift of healing as well as the gift of prophecy. I'll be looking forward to reading more.

It's nice to see another western writer here on Fanstory. This looks like it has a good start to a book. You brought up a couple of points I wasn't aware of like John Deere predated the Civil War. I wasn't aware Civil War-era soldiers ran to Canada. I can't wait to read more of this story.
