Reviews are important to master always. They are not always easy to write but it would be good to be kind when writing your review. We are here to improve our writing and so is the person who wrote their posting. This is my challenge every day.

I love this, Debi. It's quite simple- respect! My dad used to say that knowledge and growth will come from the experienced- listen, learn, and show DUE respect to express appreciation. People and their egos these days. It's the problem with this world! Individuals with a false sense of entitlement won't get very far, and will just plain miss out on authentic triumphs!
Well done my friend, be sure to let me know how today goes!!! The girls and I sent an extra prayer your way this morning before school. Xo

Hi there Jess, as always, you are so sweet. I thank you so very much for your kind words and review for my review poem. You sweetie, are the essence of a real reviewer, and I hope I have shown you how much you are appreciated.
I also thank you for your gift of six stars!
You have no idea how much the whole package means to me!
    Thanks again my dear friend!

Amen my sister. Preach! There are few things more irritating than reading a review that has little or nothing to do with what you posted. There are some writers who cheat and post nonsense just to rack up copious numbers of posts, hoping obviously, to appear as a prolific poster. To make matters worse, they never promote. So, you wind up wasting your time reading nonsense, for a whopping sum of 2 cents. Back to the point, if you are going to read my post and deem it not worth a valid review, just close it and go on to the next. I promise not to waste your time, please return the favor.

I have never understood the need for rudeness. If you don't like something you read or are offended by it, scroll on. If I don't understand something, I will say "this may not be what you intended but this is is what it says to me." Like any form of art everyone can get a different message. But your poem was spot on with its wisdom. Gretchen

Hi, Debbi!
I realize it's against the rules to defend our work here on FS, and I understand why, but if only the silent screams of rage could be heard after a nonsensical review, we'd all be defended.
I agree wholeheartedly with you that some folks don't read or don't understand the gist and find it their obligation to ridicule and degrade. We can shake it off after a few hours, but it still stings initially. Important write and a must-read. Best, JohnC

I think we can all relate to this. My worst "review" was from one of my English professors, who actually told me later that he had just skimmed what I had submitted for his class. That hurt. But you're right, most reviewers here try our best to give engaged and helpful feedback. Though, my first poem here showed up as just a black rectangle, no words visible, and someone gave me a 5 star review, telling me they were sure it was good, even though they couldn't see it! Your post caught my attention, and you addressed a problem without being snide or rude. I feel it elicits sympathy and empathy, and maybe a chuckle or two in camaraderie.

Well expressed and definitely pertinent.
Reviewing another persons work can be quite daunting.
This is to be expected when seasoned writers/poets are proud and confident of their work whilst the reviewer might be just trying to find their way, learn the art and get at least one review.
Perhaps a downloadable Reviewer's Guidebook might be helpful.
Blessings
Shirley

Long ago I decided that I would try to be as constructive and as encouraging as I could without perjuring myself, but sometimes some aren't as yet in a good place with their writing, and we try to help them as best as they can, well done, blessings Roy

Thank you for capturing the frustration of not only me, but the many. I do expect the reviewer to at least read it in order to give feedback. It's so disheartening when instead of thank yous, I must explain the simple things about my post. Someone had the gall to as me if the main character of my current book was a woman. If Willa was a woman's name. Again, she's on the character list and is featured in every chapter had the reviewer taken the time to read. Smug and lazy.
Anyway, it's the great reviewers like you that make me stay here. I guess there's always going to be a few that make us wonder.
Sending you my very best and hugs across the miles,
Sal XOs

They don't mind taking the dollar and leaving us bewildered.

Well done friend. When I read Tom's poems, sometimes I have to reach for a dictionary! Words I have never heard of; not to take away his awesome intellect. He has listened and tries the more simple approach. You have made a good point here, are they simply reading for the money? Have to be some of them wouldn't have a clue what we have written about let alone understand the poem. Ask stupid questions, give us a 4 because they don't know what a 4 means!
Thanks for bringing this to site information. K xx
