A wonderful read, I will admit sometimes when I read a work I do not fully understand, if I do not understand at all, I will not comment, (or get paid)
on several occasions I have received 1 star and 6-star reviews for the same work, "confusing" as some things like meter (iambic) (trying to learn) escape me I will comment on how the work makes me feel or just the flow and image I get from the read, 2 cents-a dollar who cares, there is no price to put on learning, very well written****kahpot

I agree that the best review is the one that you are also learning with.
I too don;t understand everything, but I make it an effort that I cannot go to bed without learning something new that day. Also you know that you never should worry as you are one of the best reviewers ever. And I thank you for that.

Great rhyming and some great advice for each of us as we read and review. I must admit that there are some posts that I read that I do not understand what they are writing, but my strategy is if I cannot say something positive about it, I don't say anything.

I too will never say anything that could ever hurt someone else so as I don't want to hurt feelings. Lol, I wish there were a few more like us out there.

Debi, stirring up some controversy, how very non-Minnesotan! (FS needs to add some emojis so I can insert a smiley face). Excellent rhyming poem on a touchy topic. I'm not without some sympathy to the reviewer who "mails it in". Unless FS is a full-time hobby, it is difficult to accumulate the necessary amount of fan member dollars to assure your own poetry has more than a handful of reviews. And, like inflation, the price seems to be rising. Routinely now, we see first page poems offering $1.20 or more. I haven't done the math, but it feels like one needs to review about 50 poems to accumulate the dollars needed to generate 20+ reviews on a single posted poem. That's a lot of time, and becomes a deterrent to posting poems - i.e., why post if nobody is going to review because you can't afford the offering. Not sure there is a fix for this. The FS model works well for those willing to commit the time. Take care, my friend! Oh, and what a beautiful font (wink!)

And remember there is a lil humor involved w a good lesson. Yes, if I have to use a print font, Merrienda Is always my first choice. But lol and wink, wink wink. I do prefer a little more swirl. hehe!

Debi, you have indeed put your finger on one problem when people don't really read what you wrote. I know it happens particularly if your story is promoted because it pays the most funny money. Just have to shake your head and forget about it. The condescending attitudes are the worst. Well written. Terry.

Lol, you do know me well Terry. Someone needed a lil comfort and of course it isn't always dismissed quite as easily for a woman. So I thought a poem was needed. Very well received but only about 99% or so. Thanks for the great review, dear friend.

(Debi, I'm always amazed when I read something that may have had
10-20 reviews, and there is a misspelled word, etc., and not One review mentioned the misspelled word.)

Absolutely, Debi, sometimes you have to wonder whether what you've written has been read. We have all been victims to that at one point or other. But as you say, most of the time we get great feedback that does help us along. Ulla:)))

You bring up some important points about reviewing, and you have done it with perfect rhyme. There have been times when I, too, have wondered if they even read my work. It isn't always easy to review, but our efforts help us become attentive readers and better writers. In the end a good review is both honest and kind. Thanks for writing and sharing this with us.

I think we've all encountered bad reviewers. They are just after the payoff. There's a big difference between critiquing and criticizing. I don't believe there's any reason for hurting anyone's feelings.

You covered an important subject. I'm thrilled you
posted it high, so more will see it. I agree with everything
your mentioned. Unfortunately, there will always be a few
who have a negative attitude about other's writing. You
are right about author's knowing if the reviewer actually
read the work. Sometimes, I believe a reviewer just skims
or reads the first line of the verses in a poem. I really
detest when one marks down because they didn't like
the topic. Well, why didn't they skip it? Oh, then I won't
get 'paid.'
