that is a very lovely, yet sad poem. Your description of what happened and Jesus's anguish and sorrow were well put and a good lesson for us. I love
the picture of the Lenten roses. Just beautiful.
I really like your rhyming poem. Good luck in the contest.

This is a beautiful Lenten poem inspired by your Lenten Rose/Hellebore. I have those, too, and appreciate their faithful blooms early before other blooms. I have the same reactions when I read about our Lord's suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane. I probably would be sleeping, too. Sigh.

This is a beautiful presentation, Janet. I loved the picture.
Your words flowed smoothly with great rhymes and true
facts. You gave readers much to think about. Your last verse
was a sad, but true, commentary on how the peoples of the
world seemed to have forgotten Him. The color scheme
worked well, too.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Beautiful poem, Janet. The rhyming and meter were spot on; it's an effortless read as the poem carried me along on its waves. Combine all that with a lovely story and message and I think you have a contender for your contest. Best of luck!

We are blessed in that the father and Jesus knows that we are mere dust and prone to the weakness that accompanies that state. This does not excuse our failures, but it does beg for his tender and forgiving mercy.

They're beautiful, not just the Hellebores, such a welcome sight in the garden- but also the sentiments expressed here - relevant at this time in the Christian calendar

Beautiful in every way! You have done a marvelous job of sharing the emotions Jesus would have had as the disciples slept. Thankfully we have a risen savior, even when we fail Him. The Levin rose is a wonderful reminder.

Just an exquisite rhyming poetic offering, Janet, both in form and message.
How I love Hellebores - or as you and mother call them, "Lenten roses."
I cannot grow them in northern Michigan, but our son-in-law's parents do - in Tilston, England...
I so appreciation the coupling of the Lenten Rose with the Resurrection...
Just a note in passing, only an observation:
I noticed that not all of the third person pronouns referencing Jesus Christ are capitalized. I would have capitalized all pronouns referring to Jesus Christ...old Catholic schooling habit...
Thank you for sharing your beautiful message and poetic talent...

Thank you Diane for this stellar review and those extra special stars.
I seem to waffle back and forth with my capitalization of pronouns referencing Jesus Christ. I need to pick one -- thanks for the kind observation. So pleased that you enjoyed my poem of the Lenten Rose. I have moved mine several times as we have moved and they seem to be doing ok here in NC.

Oh yes, Jesus committed the ultimate expression of love and obedience, when He could have saved Himself from suffering if He so desired, but love such as God has, and therefore Jesus, pulled us out the mire of sin. This is so cleverly crafted, skilfully shaped and formed as a great work Janet, thank you, blessings Roy
