Finding Love

Hi Kapot - The poem made me smile because I know just what you are writing about. Cats can certainly give a lot of love - of course, that is in cat terms. We have five cats. Three are indoor cats. The other two are barn cats. The barn cats earn their keep by chasing mice. Two of the indoor cats were adopted from the local animal sanctuary. The third indoor cat survived a house fire and lived in the rubble. He made friends with a family of skunks. He, and the skunks, were fed by a neighbor. He gives a lot of love although I wish that he would stop climbing on me when I am trying to go to sleep.

Thank you very much, I could only imagine the smell after befriending skunks

Hi - Surprisingly, there was no smell. Thank goodness. The next-door neighbor was feeding them. If the cat smelled of skunk, I don't think we would have adopted him. He is a large cat with orange puffy fur. I'm sure that if he had been sprayed, the smell would have lasted for months.

Bless your heart! What an exceptional poem of love. What other than a furry cat without a home. Now a very important part of a loving family. Sweet and beautiful!

I understand how you must feel. I count my late Boston terrier as one of the great loves of my life. Thank you so much for sharing, and best wishes to you.

What a lovely story you have told in just a few words. I have felt many times the emotions that flow from an adopted animal: gratitude, relief, and most of all, love.
Thank you for reminding me of that.

I really enjoyed this poem and the picture is very sweet. Makes me want to cuddle him right across the screen. If I may...maybe for the last line say he found his way into my heart. Just a thought.

These are sweet words and making a connection with an abandoned cat can bring two souls out of the depths of loneliness, a fine post, much enjoyed, love Dolly x
