I had to down grade this to a four because the color font chosen made it unreadable to me and maybe others. What I was able to read was a good tribute to a legendary political leader, if I could have read it more easily would have rated it higher.

Apologies for the colour choices. My wife agrees with you, she says I've always been colour unco-ordinated. Sorry about that.

Interesting take on history, chickens laying eggs, but it would have been better with a larger font. At my age anything less than size 22 is daunting, but for you I did, and learnt a new word -chook. Egg laying biddies.

As a kid around sixty years ago we lived on a poultry farm. And we had one particularly nasty rooster. Best fun my twin and I had an egg fight. We destroyed around twelve dozen eggs and had great fun. My dad wasn't laughing, he found a leather belt and tanned our backside. That stopped our laughing.

You made me smile here Bob, love the idea of a chook union! Ha ha ha, these chickens work hard to produce eggs for us and they seem under appreciated! What a lot of fun this poem is. Love Dolly x

I absolutely love this. Remember Hawkey in 1983 after we won the America's Cup? I asked my Mum if I still had to go to school. She said yes, 2/3rds of the other children in my class failed to show up.
On a more serious note, I have not been in Australia for some time now, are there really only 10 eggs per carton? I'll be home in a week or so. If so, that bis disgraceful.
A few suggestions if I may.
1. A question mark after "Would you like to be caged up all day?"
And,
2. The red background makes the poems hilarious and poignant words hard to read, perhaps a lighter shade?
A great write. I found it well composed and highly amusing.

I've corrected the question mark. Glad you sensed my intent, it was written as a piece of nonsense. Sorry about the size of print and colour scheme. Thank you for the review.
-
Haha, and now look at the grammatical errors I made in my review. Profound apologies. I still think Bob Hawke was our best PM ever and I still want to know if there really are ten eggs to a carton, or, are you just pulling my leg? 😉
-
No. But this image reminded me of an egg carton, but it only contained ten. That prompted my poem.
-
Haha. I read you poem to my husband and he said, "You're joking right?(about the eggs) and I said ,"No, this is what Bob said", we both believed you. Thanks for the poem and the laughs Bob. J. 😂😂😂

Bob,
This is a well-written rhyming poem with humorous overtones of m that at first seems culturally significant only to Australians. But upon a second look it also is a commentary on inflationary greed in the marketplace and the tendency to exploit those who can be economically taken advantage of around the world in a free market system. Well done.
All the best,
Eugene

Thank you Kahpot. Thanks for the review. I think very few of us will forget the Hawkie. Union members owed so much to his efforts in arguing for better working conditions.

Egg prices have skyrocketed here in the States, too. It's ridiculous, and many are blaming the restrictions that animal rights groups are forcing on farmers.
