Wow..... you got *ME* singing. What a simple 5-7-5 poem, that follows the syllable format. The picture, however, that got me Googling. And what an amazing song!

Thanks so much for your review and especially for the six! I'm so glad you are another lover of Leonard. Another great song is Almost Like the Blues, where amongst all the serious stuff L pokes a little fun at himself. Much affection, Julie x

I have really been out of touch. I loved him for years, but I had no idea he had died, much less so long ago. Your poem was a lovely tribute to him. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you for your generous review. Leonard died about 5 years ago, when he was 82. He lasted well for one who had abused his body so much. BTW poem came 2nd in the contest. Whoopee!

Based on your notes, I'm guessing Leonard is your father or grandfather. I like the oxymoron "sexy growl". Good luck in the contest. An interesting interpretation of passion.

Thank you Spitfire for your generous review. I'm afraid my notes are a bit open to interpretation. I'm referring to Leonard Cohen, whose music I completely missed out on during his lifetime because I was either in New Guinea or studying. A bit of poetic licence there too. 2nd in contest - yippee!

Good for you. One of my favorite songs is Cohen's Halleujah.

Thanks for your reply. Please listen to Almost Like the Blues (my favorite) if you can find it. Julie

Excellent entry for the 5-7-5 Passion writing prompt contest.
I like the presentation too. Concrete images easy to visualize.
Good syllables count and connection between lines.

Very sad yet such a blessing for both you and Leonard. What a wonderful tribute to him. So beautiful and yet simply said. This goes to show the emotion which can flow from a simply structured poem. I loved it!

Your poem is touching. Was he a relative or someone you knew prior to the day he passed? Evidently, he was a musician. with a kind heart and soul. Like "kind and loving heart."

I never met Leonard Cohen in the flesh, but I have his biography, poems, and the best of his music. He was declared Canada's best poet and wrote Hallellulia which many acknowledge to be the best song of the 20thC. Thank you for your review and stars.

This 5-7-5, My Passion for Leonard, has the proper formatting and sends one up for the songwriter who could create a mood and help us all enjoy it together. Nice.

I, too, loved Leonard. Your 575 style tribute is lovely and the graphic with lyrics was much appreciated. I think I will YouTube his Hallelujah video right now :-)

Thank you so much Nicki for your generous review, and I love to imagine you conjuring up his most famous song. Please also listen to Almost Like the Blues, if you haven't before; it is so Leonard, with the compassion for the unfortunate plus the little ironic dig at himself.

Thank you for sharing your passions for Leonard Cohen. My favorite song is "Suzanne" and also his life performance of "Hallelujah." He puts his heart and soul into his music. You honored him well with this one, mystery poet.
Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the upcoming contest.

Thank you for your generous review and supportive words. Please see if you can Youtube Leonard's It's Almost Like the Blues, my own favourite. Also, did you know he was Canada's premier poet?

Hi,
I like the mixture of human and divine love with your poem and the poem in the artwork. Your words show that passion is a part of love and should be in balance with each other.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you so much for your review and 5 star rating, Joan. The poem in the artwork is Leonard's own, and he recorded it as a song - his great talent.

You are most kindly welcome. It sounds like it would make a good song.
