I have enjoyed your essays on leadership. I think that bearing is a result of having other leadership qualities; the other leadership qualities give you bearing. Bearing is an image even if one's leadership is in a food pantry, a AA meeting, or even a farm worker's protest. As you stated, being decent to people and having a clean appearance do not necessarily mean an expensive suit.
Spock is a created character given the attributes of leadership, as was James Bond. in leadership qualities, I think of marines, the Obamas, and Ukraine's president Zekenskyy

I have a look my wife calls my, "Death Stare" I use it when I am angry, do not want to be bothered, or just want someone to not get up in my face. I use this look often when I am downtown and there are bums hanging around. One look at my face and they avoid me for the most part. It is actually more than just my expression, it is also my rigid posture, suggesting that at any moment I might spring into an attack.

I guess a lot of this is keeping your emotions under control and never letting th stress get to you. I think this is where a lot of leader fail. I've think I've seen more leader who lose their cool than those who remain totally calm in the face of a crisis.

But Mr. Spock wasn't human! That's not a fair example. And well, I won't bore you with what I think of James Bond. Who's William Wallace, the 13th century Scotsman? You gotta give us some real life contemporary examples. Today I think the general audience is used to people losing their cool. Maybe there should be class on Bearing. I think martial arts classes teach that to some degree.
