Hello Brett,
Obviously Dusty stepped up to the plate, doing what a father does and setting a good example for you. I'm glad that he escaped any serious injury working with those chemicals. Thanks for sharing this.
Have a blessed evening.

Working with chemicals is dangerous and we don't really know the extent of the damage until many years have past and health deteriorates, a sensitive write, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

My favorite brother was in the VietNam war. He didn't get killed or injured in the war, but he got cancer from agent orange that was dumped all over VietNam. Your story is skillfully executed and an interesting read.

I liked the concern of the narrator for Dusty. It shows real love just as Dusty's willingness to sacrifice his time off to provide shows love and endurance, that's rare today.

I too felt relief when his job with the chemicals came to an end - there are so many stories of premature death when working with such materials. You vividly portayed the anxiety a young boy would feel: Dusty was his rescuer - what would happen if anything happened to Dusty? Dusty was an admirable character, doing whatever it took to look after you, the special one who had become his family. That is true love. You've described him very well.

Very nicely written. I love the way you integrate history with your autobiography.
The dialogue was excellent, with lots of imagery.
I like the lesson with your story as well.
This is a wonderful work.

Wow! The sacrifices that Dusty made speak so well of him, a godly man, which is how I would expect a good father to act, no wonder he managed to see the potential in you, God never chooses us because we're good, but sees the potential in us. Well done Brett, blessings Roy

Even though a lot of things were new to you and you had to learn the farming procedures, you had a better home than what you had experienced at the Heritage House. Thank God for Dusty!

A great read and of course you were worried about the man who saved you and you came to love, as a real dad I guess. This is still a great read. Keep it going. I hope others are enjoying it as I am. No spags.

That mill job Dusty worked out sounds horrible. I'm sure living with it was much worse. You did a fine job with this chapter, as usual. I look forward to the next chapter. Have a great afternoon. Shirley
