Gretchen, LOL, a great story and very well told. I think you need to add a picture of a bear or change it to a beagle and add that picture post it as nonfiction biographical, and your daughter would...(never talk to you again). On second thought, just leave it a bear. A very fun write. Terry.

Of course, he was the bestest bear in the world. I enjoyed your fun
story, Gretchen. Everyone, no matter their age, needs that on special
friend, real or imaginary, to confide in. Your words were descriptive
in a way I could see everything a I read. I enjoyed your story.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Don't you just love it? The thought that one can still tell secrets to and know they'll never betray you or turn their back on you, is amazing, I never had a Teddy, that's probably what's wrong with me. Beautifully written Gretchen, blessings Roy

A true friend can be counted on no matter what your age.
The story is delightful. It feels sincere and the love between the girl and her stuffed bear are precious. The dialog is fun.

Good for your daughter! I have a similar loved one. A rag doll I've had since I was three months old. We mustn't forget those special things in our life. Remember The Velveteen Rabbit! I love your story. It's a love me, love my bear thing.

I enjoyed reading this. My youngest son is 6'5" and has a huge Scooby Do. Steven will be 30 tomorrow. We came down to Victoria to visit with him. Scooby is still front and center. LOL

She hugged the bear tightly. (adverb need to be as close to verb as possible since it doesn't sound right just after the verb, then before the verb, 'tightly hugged the bear.')

At twenty-five be glad your daughter has her beagle as a bed mate. I wish I'd kept my monkey with the banana in his hand, it would have been tons cheaper and less traumatic. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

I had a monkey with a banana when I was little. His name was Jocko. He went on vacation and never returned. Though I did get a letter from him explaining that he had found a girlfriend. He had really nice handwriting like my mom's. LOL. Thank you so much for this fun review. Gretchen

Ha, I'm 72 in just over a week and I recently found my old bear. He needs some work on his coat and his music box needs replacing. I have to decided what tune to replace "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" with, as it was run by a spring which broke and the music systems are probably different now.

A sweet and fun short story. Where I taught, the thirteen year olds (first year of high school) had to take a favourite teddy or stuffed animal to camp. This was so that the ones who needed that comfort during their time away from home would not be embarrassed, because they all had a soft toy or teddy. Lovely story, and I bet the teddy knew many secrets.

That's so cute! I'm glad that people, no matter how old, have a special stuffed confidant who will always listen nonjudgmentally and keep every secret! Well told!
