Yes, Bill, isn't it always so? When we have to make a decision, we know we've arrived at a cross road. Which one to take is the big question. I enjoyed this. Ulla:)))

Well done Bill. Excellent commentary on decision-making. Those who hesitate are not leaders. A leader makes decisions based on the information gathered and can quickly adjust that decision if evidence shows that it needs adjustment.
Well written and stated.
Best regards,
Mary

I loved your definition of decisiveness and your 5 principles of being a decisive leader. I especially enjoyed #5 which too many of our leaders fail to ever do. If they would do this before launching some grand project and give themselves a timeline and criteria to determine whether or not it was a success or a failure, we wouldn't be burdened with these projects or policies for years afterward when to any rational mind they are a complete failure.

As my eyes roved down the page and locked onto your line "People do make wrong decisions," my repeated mess of daily blunders scrolled through my head like an old time movie. Thanks for sharing.

This is excellent. I agree. No snap decisions, but made with facts in hand and quickly as possible. If you lived by all you have written, then you were a good leader. I love the Robert Frost quote. I've always enjoyed that quote. He is one of my favorite poets and this quote is appropriate for how decisions might make a big difference in our lives.

Thank you, Beth. As far as Frost, they say to always call on the masters to say it better than we can.

I wish my daughter was more decisive, she takes ages to make a decision and is always afraid of making the wrong decision. Those who can make decisions and be right, have a skill. I often make snap decisions and regret them and try and sleep on my decisions before making them. I love Robert Frosts's poetic commentary here and your advice about leadership and your five point plan. I always think of the consequences of my actions before going through with my plan, this comes with experience, a poignant write, love Dolly x

I was once faced with the awesome decision that could have cost my company thousands of dollars. The person who should have made the decision quit without warning. All of the major decision makers were incommunicado. I made a decision that I was criticized for, I was subsequently fired. To my surprise I was proven right in my decision. I went from there to professional success after success. Never looked back, never regretted doing what I did. Would one hundred percent do it the very same again.

The Road Not Taken is my favorite poem ever. It is also one I can relate to, as I most definitely took the wrong road in my teenage years. Your story is nicely penned. I enjoyed the writing.

Great idea to reference that particular poem by Frost. I think sometimes I don't have trouble with decision-making and other times I do. It really depends on the context. I suppose, it helps to know who is most affected by the decision. Another great post!
