Thank you for sharing this comforting word on God sovereignty and control over the Earth. It's also control of the weather and has not left his post. I think all humans forget this from time to time especially when the weather turns foul. The Bible also says that in the end times we will have these weather phenomenons, signaling the return of Christ. Sending along my very best to you as always and my very best for the upcoming contest.

This is a beautiful free verse poem that is so appropriate for all that is going on in the world today. So many don't understand why God would allow all this to happen if he was in control but the Bible tells us it will happen. His kingdom is not of this world. He has plans to for a better world for his chilldren. He still preforms miricles for individual but he allows these things to separate good from evil.

Excellent poem for the contest, and I send my best wishes. You have described the tumultuous effects of nature and of the human condition, but we must raise our eyes and see that His ultimate plan will prevail - and that we can trust Him to fulfil His purposes.

I like the awe and majesty present in this poem. I like the strong images you use, for example, "Goliath-like storms/ Breathe havoc across the land,/ Swinging giant arms/ To topple trees." I do think one image could be stronger. "Earthquakes tremble,/ Violently shaking the ground/ Like gigantic dust mops." You talk about volcanos, tree-destroying storms, earthquakes, wars, the ultimate end of the soul...and dust mops. It doesn't really fit. Other than that, I think it is a good poem. It is a poem that points to an eternal God, as we realize how fragile we are, and how dangerous the world can be.

Many people will blame those tragedies on a vengeful God, but it wasn't him. He stands with the people who reach out their hands to help with love. What a wonderfully written poem.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

A powerful verse, with vibrant imagery to describe our troubled, dysfunctional world, with two words that offer hope and salvation. Still God. Made stronger with each repetition.

What a welcome and reassuring reflection! Thank you! I loved your use of alliteration in "Before flinging them in fragments" and what struck me most about the wars between men was "in the name of religion" as even Putin claims he's doing this for the Russian Orthodox Church. (Shame on them!) I liked how you moved from the calamites in nature and nations into the heart of individuals which is also often "astir" but our Almighty God is in control. We can rest in Him. Hope this does well in the contest!

Natural disasters can cause such devastation to people's lives Verna and are referred to as Acts of God by insurance companies and will not pay out when they occur, as you say we have no control of them, a very descriptive poem here, love Dolly x

All the fury of the elements is nothing compared to God's anger, Verna. :) He is my Father, for through Him I am me. I see that He is in your heart and that makes me happy, for like you state, "Sees all, knows all,/And has control. Thank you for sharing.
