Good entry for the 80 Word Flash Fiction writing prompt contest.
Is there life after death? Everyone ask that. It seems the narrator is at peace.
the story grabbed my interest. The dialogue and characters development is good.

Yes, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If one could see what's in store, there'd be no use for faith, you're absolutely correct, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

There's a beacon of light which has a true meaning. A beacon of light is a source of hope, encouragement, or inspiration, especially in the face of adversity. Are there fathers who are beacon of light in the community, always going out of their way to help those around them? Was your father a beacon of light? Like your story.

Me? Unlikely
My wife? Absolutely

A story filled with interesting and unanswerable questions. What does happen to us? We will never know until the time comes and then we are gone and don't come back to tell.

Yes, I can see your hypothesis as true but if those who pass could come back, and I feel my bf dog did after dying last year would defeat the purpose of faith

Exactly. If you are wrong you have lost nothing. If you are right you gain everything. Best wishes for your thoughtful writing in the contest voting.

This is a good entry into the 80-word flash contest. The text is a great size. The story is well-told and, the plot doesn't seem rushed. A short story about an age-old question~what happens after death. Once again, no clear answer. The visual fits okay. A photo of a casket or graveyard would be better. Your visual could be for anything but death. Good luck in the contest.

Did you read the authors note as to why I selected that picture?
-
No, I did not. However, I have now so I understand your perspective.
-
Thank you, again.

This eighty-word flash fiction story, Death, has the proper word count and essentially seems to say that if all that was promised is true or not, death will come and we will know.

I will not argue that point, my friend. Thanks for commenting.

An extremely thought provoking read. I particularly appreciate your concluding question. It made me question my own level of faith. What do I have to lose if I choose faith?
A great entry for the competition.

and the answer would be no more or less than what you have now.
Thanks for the read and time spent.

Your piece is very thought-provoking. Your opening question is something we will never know the answer to and leaves us with the quandary of another unanswerable question.
Faith does provide a true fact: "faith is not a perfect knowledge but includes a hope for things not seen."
A comment on "before I close my eye this last time". Why just one eye? Should it be "before I close my eyes this last time"?

I will be forever thankful not being a cyclops! I will make the edit immediately, and many thanks.

You are absolutely right - we all have nothing to lose by believing in a better place after death. It sure makes for comfort of mind instead of a stressful unknowing. I enjoyed this well written reflective and conversational read.

and I appreciate your time and reading of the piece. It's a challenge to meet the requirements and a goal in eighty words, but "yo, Adrian, I did it!," I think.
