This poem can sound like a metaphor, or be symbolist poem about a person in love who talks about being practical, but always thinks and acts in an impractical manner. Sometimes we can let our emotions lead us, or mislead us.

I like your Tanka poem- beautiful picture presentation- reminds of the California coast -waves coming in onto the beach and then being pulled back by the undertow - like how you wove the tactual self in with the practical self together as the waves rolled cross your feet- nice job AP

Won't make it to the ocean this week, but we're driving to the Gulf tomorrow. My youngest son lives down there and Friday is his birthday. It's still very serene there and full of beautiful. This poem makes me want to leave right now. Thank you for sharing.

The image looks like a thistle which grows in the states. I wonder if sea holly grows wild surrounding the sea or wetlands. Thistle is not a fun plant as its picky, the seeds and puffs balls will spread when its windy.
