This is probably one of my most favorite St. Patrick's Day-themed poems I've heard! You can just hear the characters and feel the atmosphere.

Thanks for sharing!

Hahahaha! I knew it! I knew Irene was going to be a beautiful Irish Setter, I just knew it! (probably because it is a dog I would want if I were young Sean...LOL) What a charming poem! I love the limerick style of it, as well as the story and the dialect. Best of luck in the contest. :)

I loved you poem. It was well written and the rhymes weren't forced . My grandfather was Irish and had a great sense of humor, he would tell stories like this. Your poem is funny. I've been married twice and have always owned a dog. Maybe Sean will be happier with Irene.

This is a very well written Irish themed poem you have penned for the contest. You used great descriptive words and very nice imagery from the art work you chose. Best wishes in the contest. Blessings, Teri

This poem, The Wee Folks Joke, has a fun meter and rhyme which bring the readers through to the jolly conclusion where the boy gets a dog. Good fun...............................................................

Well composed and witty poem. The colour theme is perfect for the competition. I particularly like that, at least in my own head, I hear an Irish accent when I read your poem. The dialogue is unique. Great effort and best of luck.
