Reliability is a huge trait that affects so many other parts of our character and credibility. Wow, it's hard for me to imagine fourteen leadership traits and the accomplishments gained by only perfecting a few. Thanks for sharing.

For me, a key work here is 'consistency'.
Being able to rely on others for help when needed is important to maintain friendships. Someone who constantly changes their mind or behavior is unsettling to our personal selves.

Excellent. My ideal leader makes sure that I have what I need to complete an assigned task, which includes clear instructions on how to complete the task. Once that is determined I give clear indications on when I expect the task is to be completed. I assure that the worker knows that he is to contact me if he has a problem that it is clear he cannot overcome by himself. Once that is done, I get out of the worker's way and allow him to impress me.

This is excellent advice. I am assuming that you are writing a series of articles addressing each of the traits you have listed. This would make a good leadership book for corporate use.

That's something I can relate to. I remember those Meyer-Briggs personality tests and while I can be boringly predictable, I hope I'm dependable. We need that to feel secure.
Not sure why this prose piece was posted as a poem...

I'm enjoying your expertise in leadership. I'm retired, so I no longer lead, but these excerpts have so many excellent lessons. I wish I had had them in my younger years to present to some of my ex-bosses who may have needed a refresher. Nicely written! Bet, JohnC

Leadership is fluid and hard to completely appreciate in the middle of things. Upon reflection, it shines like a diamond.

Bill, This is a very good essay you have penned. The fourteen traits of leadership are very good and very needed in our government now. You used great descriptive and very true words. Thank you for sharing. Blessings, Teri

Hmm, while I can see that your commentary of a quality of leadership here. Dependability is more of an applied thing from others onto you, what they see in you. Your consistency of doing or being a certain way, and your reliability in meeting that expectation from others' POV.

As for your traits of leadership. Yes and No. What you are describing are traits in a leader of positivity needed to lead good men and women, people of honor. That is not the only type of leadership. The leadership traits for an evil group or organization are different. A competent leader of such a group would require different traits than those you list. As would leadership of a quasi-natured group. Leadership traits or skill depends on what or who is being led and for what situation.

Also, should this be general poetry? It is more prose, commentary. It lacks the elements of poetry. I would recommend a change of venue.

Your posit that evil leaders would have different traits, would be more convincing with even one example.
This platform is made for collecting both poetry and prose, hence the title: Random Rhyme and Petty Prose. What the site labels things is pretty unimportant.

There are many: Hitler, Mao, Hirohito, Genghis Khan, Al Capone, Shaka Zulu, to name a few.

But... I do understand your POV of things. I meant no disrespect.

A concise and well explained definition reliability with well cited examples. It is certainly a key quality which means much to friends and family. Unfortunately few leaders show this!

They serve their masters to whom they are dependable. We are not those masters.
