Great and brilliant use of MLK's words to complement your own compelling words of justice. Being fair in all cases becomes difficult because of our human frailties and prejudices. This does not mean we should not strive for and examine our decisions to be just.
Best wishes,
Mary

Yes, justice should be equal throughout, reading this has me challenging myself, am I equal in the way I deal with people? an excellent read, and I look forward to reading more****kahpot

I'm not sure why this is called poetry when it is an essay and doesn't sound like poetry. You have a worthwhile agenda if you're going to write about the other concepts you mention at the beginning. Great comments on justice. Yes, justice means being fair and consistent. Some of our leaders fail when it comes to justice, because they prefer equity, which attempts to give others a life up, and that's treating others unfairly. I agree, if one is to be considered just, he has to be even-handed. judi

This is a book platform which I have chosen to receive, as it says in the title, Random Rhyme and Petty Prose. That's how an essay gets tagged as a poem. I suppose I could go through and re-identify everything, but -- will I? Thanks for giving this a look, Judi

Leaders are those who want to guide followers on the right paths, help them to learn, and hold their hands until they are steady and confident. LOL. Okay, I'm just babbling to get 150 characters, but it doesn't mean I like your post any less. :-)

Martin Luther King is a perfect example of what you've stated in this article and the previous post on leadership. Super informative for those in these high (or entry-level) leadership positions. Great post, Bill. Best, JohnC

Excellent points all. Many African American blame all whites for the problems they face. Obviously that is not true, Just as some of the things many white believe and or think about blacks is not accurate or true. To ascribe to either misconception and allow it to govern our behavior is to be unjust in a most basic way.

That issue is one that will likely be resolved when we have all let the reins fall to the young.

Great reflection on Justice! I do have a strong sense of justice or perhaps reaction to injustice, like someone unjustly punished. But on the other hand, I would have trouble with no favoritism. So I miss out on the first quality. I liked your MLK Jr. quote, too!

Knowing ourselves and our limitations on pure justice is a measure of leadership as well.
Comment from Gloria ....
Here we start off with Justice which is likely one of the most difficult of all, especially given that one must avoid favouritism and be fair at all times.
But then not everyone is intended to be a leader.
Very well done here.

These are traits to know, and then keep in mind they come in question.

I'm guessing you will continue this with the other attributes listed. The accompanying poster uses the negative to accent the positive as the old song goes.
You could put these all together for a manual to be handed out to troops.

These traits are well known and reviewed constantly.

A good example of the many sides of justice is an old episode of "Modern Family" where the parents discover a cigarette burn in their upholstery. The parents decide to use Christmas Morning as a punishment for none of the three children owning up to it. Of course, Jay, and (whatever his wife's name is) wanted Christmas morning every bit as much as the kids, and when push came to shove, Jay dragged the Christmas tree out of the living room. A lot of interplay went on, but it ended with a reflection off a Christmas light acted like a magnifying glass and burned the hole.
Somewhere in there's a point. I'll let you find it. I've done enough.

Right. The injustice is punishing the innocent to try to teach one guilty person a lesson.
