Some times a drinking person turns his back on the Lord for one reason or another. They climb into the bottle and forget their way out till they hit rock bottom until they get a rude awakening and God comes calling once again asking him if he has it in his heart to believe once again. He knew it was going to take much work on his part to prove to everyone he was a man if his word. He was in it for the long hall back to society.

I enjoyed your story. I'm a sucker for stories with happy endings. In this case, they were all winners. Mr. Kidd found his way back to preaching and I think that the congregation found a permanent minister.

Jeremiah 29:11 says 'I have plans for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and future' oh yes, God has no plans to let us go, we are in His loving hands, the devil can never snatch us out of God's arms, beautifully written Mike, blessings Roy

Well, as they say God works in strange ways, Mike.
I enjoyed your story though it was poignant. You gave
readers great details about the setting, the main
characters, and the outcome. Everything fit perfectly.
I'm thrilled with the outcome for all.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Your story is a great articulation of the message that God works in mysterious ways. We get that strong sense of this man being somehow guided to this old church, to save his own soul, and to give a powerful lesson that the congregation might not normally think of. We are all vulnerable, we can all fall in a moment, like this fallen preacher. But with God's guidance we can get on the right path again and the message we share can be even more powerful than before. I liked the strong sense of scene setting and character definition, and the dialogue was crisp and realistic. estory

This was a very powerful read. I liked the inspiration of the shotgun. If the power of God doesn't make you pay attention, the buckshot sure will. The fact that you didn't have Mr. Kidd wallow in self pity made me enjoy the story more. Very good characterizations and imagery was strong. Well written and very enjoyable. Gretchen

This is a six-rating story. (I'm out of sixes so I will have to send you a virtual six). Many of us should learn a lesson from your story. It is touching and very educational.

Mike. Fantastic story with many truths of a man, risen, fallen and hopefully risen again.
I enjoyed the soft tempered flow to this piece.
Sequel?
Thanks for writing.

Mr. Williamson removes the shudders [shutters]
I'm so happy I had a six left for this post , Kimbob. It is a shame what has happened in our country? In God we trust.
I would love to have the chance to revisit my Home Church again. The Second Baptist Church of Mt Vernon Illinois. The actual structure is not there anymore, It burned down many years ago; I was told. It is here in my heart though. Good job. Nancy:)
