We have returned to the debauchery of Roman times. God is not pleased. We were given choices, sex is a release for not being able to live as we used to live. Last days are going to get worse before they change. The evil one will be tethered by God and his followers will live in eternal limbo - not being able to see God. K xx

You are absolutely correct. The foolish among us will not see or come to know the truth until it is sadly too late.

Hi Nomi,
This poem has strong images an metaphor describing either how the rich feel they can do anything and have no consequences or about prostitution.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Yes, your words are relevant to today's world. It is like it is a sexual free for all, very healthy and leads to poor outcomes. Your poem has a strong steady beat that make it a perfect poem to read out loud. Your theme also gives the reader something to think about.

So very true, it happens everywhere and right in front of our eyes if we bother to look. Now like everything else in life, all in moderation is a good thing. Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem Ulla:)))

I've never been a fan of Bacchus, who is one of deities of the Maudi Gras crowd in New Orleans. The revelers attempt to worship a livestyle of debauchery just their choise of God did in Greek mythology. Your poem presents what is happeing today with those who don't respect God's gift
of sex for those are in a union of marriage. I agree no good will come of it. Only disease, unwanted pregnancies and broken homes. Thank you for sharing.

Bacchanal - Thank you for sharing the definition with us. I was not familiar with this word. You educated me.

Thank you for sharing this poem with us. I didn't find it preachy, but the truth. I had a similar discussion with my youngest son Thursday evening. The discussion was on the abortion issue, but random, unprotected sex did come up. You are right on target.

Thank you. This was originally written some years ago. On impulse I decided to update it a bit and take a chance on posting it.

I do not see this as preaching but as an observation. To back up your words, I recently read a book on the 1920s and many socialites in that era played with fire and ended in self-destruction by suicide and disease. Their lifestyle took its toll. We seem to walk again on the same path. This is a very well-written poem with a powerful message.
Best regards,
Mary

Thank you so much. This is exactly what I needed to hear. I had some serious reservations after I posted this. I am relieved that someone understands where I am coming from.

Nomi, it is okay if you preach. And you know, after you preach, you get to pass the plate. This is a very well-written poem and offers up a good message. My only suggestion is to try using a little larger font size for these old eyes to read it better. Excellent work. Terry.

Thank you Terry. There is at least one other member who suggests that I use a larger font. I will se what I can do about that through the editor.
reply by Terry Broxson on 06-Mar-2023
Nomi, use advanced editor, on size choose maybe a 16.

This rhymes well and your point is very clear yet it does sound preachy to me and I think this would be good for the rant contest. I know that sexual relations are not bad and yet you seem to be preaching that all sex is bad and I would have to disagree with that notion.
Too bad you have probably had a bad time in the past. I on the other hand have enjoyed sexual relations and know that they can show love as well as tenderness.

Boy did you read me wrong. I know nobody who loves sex more than me. I wrote this poem years ago when this style of poem was more in vogue. I was searching for something different to post. Please believe me, I am not a preacher. What I was trying to say is beware of unprotected sex, and sex with the wrong person(s) can lead to problems not easily fixed. As always I welcome and value your thoughts and comments.

If I were you I would add what you have told me to your author's notes. You are right! I misread what you were saying by a long shot!

Fire and brimstone may very well be to stops on the local train preparing to arrive in Hell. Amazing how things get worse when religion is tossed aside like burnt toast. Even if the preachers is wrong, and they can be, the good word is a recipe for better lives.

I like how you think. It is even worse when the preacher is just as horny as the sinner he is supposed to be trying to save. Thank you for your review.

I enjoy, it seems, whatever you write. You seem not to be doing as much as the past, and that's okay for your quality is the same.
