Beth! You did this yesterday? My goodness! How in the world did you type this post? I'm so sorry about the fall. And like a true southern lady, you were more concerned about how you looked than your well-being. Did you make an appointment with the doctor? Sending hugs and prayers!

I wrote Ulla about whether I should remove my entry for this contest. I didn't see the no non-fiction until you pointed it out. I hope you can keep it in and do well in the contest!

as it looked it didn't see that heavy. (seem)

Thanks for the review, After I started to type my fingers loosed up. My thumb is the only one that want move. The others are swolen but move okay. I have my arm braced and I think it is getting better. If they disqualify my non-fiction, it's okay as long as I get to keep my review stars. I don't know what the deal with fonts. At first every other paragraph came out in a different font. I thought I'd corrected them all.

Well, I bet nobody wants to make you mad, because you just don't sound like the type to give up and would probably fight through about anything.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Ric. I'm pretty stubborn. I will be self-sufficant as long as I possibly can.

Did you ever find out if any of your mail blew away? It's tough when your expecting to be able easily get to the mail until forces of nature say otherwise. I could identify with how you need to be prepared for potential slips and falls the moment you step outside the house. Such as life.

Thank you for the nice review. I've had mail blow out and get wet before and I've also had mail stolen. I've not see my check yet. I'll try to keep my cell phone handy from now on when outside.

Well, did you find your mail? It sounds as if you managed very well considering the situation. I have a therapist who comes twice a week from falling, but like you, I tend to get up.
Thanks for sharing your agency. LOL.

Thank you, Chuck. No I didn't get the check and I didn't even go looking yesterday. I least my arm is better, but my hand and wrist are still swollen. Hopefully it is just badly bruised because I can still type.

Sometimes a bruise is worse than a broken bone. Hard to keep people like us down

We cannot walk when we are born and have a hard time doing the same after 75. Grandpa is 89 and farms every day; however, we tried suggesting Life Alert and this man who never cussed a day in his life looked at us with burning eyes and did without saying a word. Frightening.

Thank you Tom, I feel the same way as Grandpa. I'll work on my withering look and maybe the kids will get the message. I'm going to try to keep a cell phone handy.

Well, Beth, a Life Alert, would definitely help--even if you don't
want one. You were lucky this time. It seemed this one was the
most dangerous of your falls. I hope your wrist isn't broken. You
shared your story well. The words were descriptive as I could see
everything you wrote. The way you described getting yourself up
off the floor was funny, though I know it was serious at the same time.
Take care.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thank you Jan. I really appreciate the review and I might not consider a LIfe Alert or least make sure I have a cell phone always with me. My entry will be disqualified because it says no Non-fiction.

Your story set off all kinds of alarm bells for me. I've fallen and broken bones twice now. The first time I broke my wrist and had help getting up. The second time I broke my clavicle and I couldn't get up. It's a long story which I won't get into here, but I'm extremely cautious these days. I hope your wrist wasn't broken. It is very hard getting along with one hand.

Thank you Mary, I try to be careful, but what I did yesterday was foolish trying to walk on slanted rain soaked pavement littered with rubbish and shoes that were loose and unstable. I may have to get an life alert or at least make sure I alway have my cell phone on me.
I appreciate the review and the concern.

You are welcome. I know what you mean. I've had to train myself to pick up my feet because I have a tendency to shuffle which as caused me to trip.

This story is so well written I could visualize every movement. I could also relate to your story. I live with my husband, but have fallen when he was either asleep or not at home. I know how difficult it is to get back up.

What makes this story powerful is, you not only tell what happened, you describe how you felt, making it easier for the reader to relate. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you so much for a great review and six stars. The problem is I didn't read the rules well for the contest. It says no non-fiction. I notice Helen entered Non-fiction as well. They should have said write fictional prose.

The contest said no nonfiction was allowed, but you have this marked as nonfiction. I don't know if this is actually fiction or if it's in the wrong place.
I really enjoyed the story, and you told it well. If this is nonfiction, I'm sorry I was amused by your misfortune.
Thanks for sharing, and best wishes to you.

I'm bad about not reading the rules so I guess I lost 4.50 but it's okay because I was going to post this anyway. It is a true story. I've seen some other non-fiction entered as well. I appreciate the review.

A great write and a great read. Two things here: A body needs to recognize what it can't do anymore. Also, don't let your pride get in the way of asking for help.
After all that work, did you get the check???

Thank you, No the check wasn't there. I'm thinking someone might have taken it because it happens in my neighborhood. I just found I didn't read the contest rules because they say no non-fiction. I really appreciate the six stars, anyway.

I hope whoever took it won't cash it. Alert your bank. Dang contest rules. Sigh.
