I think your little post captures that terrible feeling of loss when you are present at someone's death. This is something you can understand only by going through it yourself. I went through it when my dad died, so I know this feeling of seeing someone take their last breath before your eyes. It is a sober, somber, draining moment. You often ask yourself 'why?" That was one thing i found missing in your narrative. You really juggle several feelings of things like 'well, he was old, he couldn't enjoy life anymore' and 'he was suffering', and also 'why did my father, who went to church every sunday, and gave so much to charity, have to suffer like this.'
