This is a lovely prayer, much like I felt when my dad died young. A parent's death can be very hard, and your grief is clear in your words. You didn't do wrong trying to keep him alive, God just let you know it was time by taking him with a stroke, so quick and nearly painless.

"Please help me learn to accept change when it comes." For me, this statement is most powerful and heartfelt. It is difficult to accept change, especially when it is as a result of a death. Your letter is genuine and sincere. Best wishes in the contest.

A nicely written letter to a father.
Standout in this writing:
-The things one could say, if given a chance, but the things that were on the verge of the tong, right there, were it not for life-s interruptions.
-No one else seems to fit in a father-s shoes. I hope you build on this imagery, perhaps to explore other themes with: repairing Dad.
I would love to read more of those stories, testimonies and search for answers.
Beautiful to read. All the best to you.

Just love it -the tone is just right - sad and lonely but yet there is a distinct tone of acceptance and resignation - perhaps these are the type of precious, invisible gift we receive when we turn to God and ask for His guidance and help - this should make it to the winner's enclosure -has my vote

It's horrid when we lose our parents, I've lost both of mine, and I'll never stop missing them. Life is like that, we all know it, we all know we have to go, but we put it aside as if we are immune to it, it won't happen in our house. But it does. That's a lovely photo of your dad, and you. I'm sorry for your loss. Good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Good work. Nicely done.
Your third paragraph want to be a poem!
You present an issue all caregivers struggle with - how desperately to 'force' our loved ones to cling on to life, when to let go.
Best wishes and good luck in the contest.

Thank you Wayne, for your thoughtful review on - Fatherly Stroll. I think you are the only one that has picked up on the poetic paragraph. I couldn't help it. I'm more poet than letter writer.

This just as easily could have been written in prose, comfortably. It had an enjoyable flow to it. A fun, yet touching read. Humorous, as well, as when you asked G O D to walk with dad.

This letter to God is both heartwarming and heartbreaking as you end this by asking God to take a stroll with your father. So sweet is your love for your father that it was a shame that he died because of a stroke. I wish you all the best in this well-written letter and contest both a happy way to spend the day.
Jesse

I loved the ending of your heartfelt letter to God, DD.
I enjoyed reading it. You prayed for Him to help you
through your loss while always keeping your dad in
the forefront of your prayer. You gave readers great
details which allowed them to see your love for both
your dad and God.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan
