Good way to introduce new characters: "Our two newest detectives, Betty Jo Jenkins and Dr. Achaius Stuart, were holding down the fort"The goings on here are very 'relatable' (a new phrase lol) Why do I feel this is a foreshadowing? Probably because who the author is...lol Ooof, you took us there & it was a false alarm...good writing.
Finally, finally....we'll be back for our favorite detective.

Hi Sally,
Now this story is sizzling with the Blind Detective and her team coming around the corner. They'll rescue Aspen Grove from the grip of evil like no one else could. I can hardly wait!
Casablanca... terrific tale. I have to agree with Willa. There was more glamour in those old movies. I love to watch Cary Grant, Spencer Tracey, Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Errol Flynn, Bette Davis, Gregory Peck, Jimmy Stewart, Eva Marie Saint, John Wayne, Yul Brynner, Fred MacMurray, June Allyson, Mickey Rooney, Maureen O'hara, James Mason, Barbara Stanwyck, Donna Reed, etc. One of my favorite movies is 1959 "North by Northwest" that starred Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, and James Mason. Love the scene with the plane and cornfield.
I'm surprised that Willa told Tommy about her past. I think the past is the past, and should be kept secret. Especially on the honeymoon. Why would she feel she had to tell Tommy about her episode of so many years ago?
It was nice of Hank to provide a car for the newlyweds. When my youngest son was married (Luke & Leslie) in 2011, I plopped my car keys in his hand for their honeymoon to PEI. I owned a Nissan Murano at the time, and it would give them carefree driving. They were so surprised.
Nicely penned! Looking forward to the next chapter!
Hugs,
Kimbob

It is nice that all who attended Willa and Tommy's wedding reception were totally focused on the couple's joy, thus creating an atmosphere of love and peace, however temporary.

Tommy's sister, Rena, besides Approving Tommy's choice for a bride, is looking for a police job; so Tommy suggests she talk to Captain Hank Riley. If that interview goes well, a potentially long-term character may be added to the growing list.

Hank's surprise gift to Tommy of a rental car was humorous at that moment.

You handled the honeymoon scenes discreetly without losing the essence of the couple's conversations. It is important for a marriage to begin without secrets, and even better when a past adverse event had been averted, leaving no shame to linger unnecessarily. The result is increased mutual trust and enjoyment.

Later in the evening, Hank returns to Betty Jo's farm to continue protecting the witnesses while relaxing a bit after all his tasks at the wedding. He is pleased Betty has a pumpkin pie cooling while she completes cooking of a big pot of beef stew. When she asks how they will proceed on the multilocational murder case without Tommy and Willa, Hank reveals that well-reputed help will arrive the next day -- the Blind Girl with three members of her own team, including two dogs (likely King and Samson). That brings us to a turning point in the story, as neither Beelzebub's dim-witted demons nor FEE with all his connections can overcome the combined team with Patience backing them.

Superb, aptly illustrated, and well accompanied by a scene from the 1942 movie, Casablanca.

The bad guys don't stand a chance now! When Sally and King show up they're done for. I'm picturing King chewing the ass off of that demon DeCayed. That should be good!

I miss the day I married my beautiful wife, Sally. :) Yet, knowing her as long as I have I know that life was promised to me that day. Without her to stand by me I would be nothing but dust in the wind. Thank you for sharing.

This is a good chapter. Tommy and Willa have the marriage they wanted and a great honeymoon, that of course ends too soon. And now the blind detective is coming to help with the case.

Hi, Sally Law!
This is the second chapter I've read of this intriguing love story consecutively, and I believe I'm getting hooked, LOL. I will attempt to keep going, but I dislike not having read it from the beginning. If I try to go back, I'm sure it will be all-consuming until I catch up, so I will follow from here for now and perhaps go back one chapter at a time. Ahhh! Best, JohnC
